Wyndemere. Alexis and Stefan.

S: "Don't you think you're being alarmist?"
A: "No, no I don't. I think you're standing on a landmine. One false move and you're not only going to blow yourself up. You're going to take all of us with you."
S: "Oh please. I helped a woman in distress. You would have done the same thing."
Stefan angrily leaves the table, Alexis follows.
A: "No, no, nope. I don't think I would have. Under these circumstances I would have called 911 and let emergency services handle it."
S: "So you're chastising me for being a, how do they say uh. A good Samaritan."
A: "Stop acting like you have control over this situation because you don't!"
S: "I beg your pardon!"
A: "I don't mean to bark at you, but you're dangerously out of control here. You're acting on impulse."
S: "This wasn't business!"
A: "Exactly! The entire future of this family is at stake now, and I'm not going to let you jeopardize that."
Stefan turns away upset.
A: "I understand, why your doing this, I can see how you feel, see that's the problem. If I can see it how long do you think it will take Bobbie to catch on."
S: "Barbara has no reason to doubt my sincerity."
A: "I certainly hope you didn't give her a reason to last night."
S: "Trust me she'll be convinced."
Stefan sits on the couch.
A: "I hope so."
Alexis joins him.
A: "Your image as benevolent savior of General Hospital has a great deal to do with the fact that Bobbie agreed to become your wife."
S: "(Sigh)
A: "People in this town respect her, they believe her. And if the two of you stop getting along now especially over another woman. People in this town are going to start thinking that Luke Spencer was right all along. And you can't afford to let that happen."
S: "You don't need to tell me what's at stake Alexis."
A: "I never thought so before."
S: "You don't understand. I'm responsible. I did this to Katherine."
Nikolas enters.
N: "Katherine? What about Katherine?"
Stefan and Alexis look at each other warily.

Kat's penthouse, Barbara enters.
B: "Are you all right. You seem a little, I don't know (Can't make the word out)
K: "Just surprised to see you here. That's all."
B: "Well you know I don't usually show up at peoples doors without warning but, I was working all night and then I found myself passing by your building. And I figured now was as good a time as any."
K: "To do what?"
B: "Katherine. I have to ask you something. Why did you come to Dara's office for Luke's hearing?"
K: "I'm not sure I understand the question."
B: "Well you've never been particularly close to my brother so why did you go out of your way to help him?"
K: "I simply told the truth."
B: "Well I think you did a lot more than that."
K: "How do you mean?"
B: "Well most people in your position would have been angry. Determined to see someone punished."
K: "Contrary to what people think. That's not who I am. Sending someone to prison would not help me to walk again."
B: "What you said about ending the feud between the Cassadine's and the Spencer's really touched me."
K: "Thank you. Well I don't want to chase you out, but I need to get ready for my physical therapy appointment."
B: "Oh that's right, good. Um who are you working with?"
K: "Um."
B: "That's ok, Carly Roberts right? It's all right. I'm sure you'll do fine with her."
K: "If she ever arrives. She's at least half an hour late."

Wyndemere.
S: "I was telling Alexis that Katherine fell last evening."
N: "She fell?"
S: "Yes at Edward Quartermaine's suggestion I called her on a business matter. Now uh apparently she fell in the process of answering the phone. She sounded panicked so I went to her apartment. I found her on the floor, I picked her up and put her back in her wheelchair, but it never occurred to me that perhaps I never should have moved her at all."
N: "Well have you spoken to her this morning? Is she all right?"
S: "No, no I haven't. I didn't want to call too early. Perhaps you could check on her?"
N: "Yeah ok."
S: "Thank you."
Alexis walks over and just stares at Stefan without saying a word.
S: "If you don't mind, I'd appreciate some time alone."
A: "Just one more thing. I think I finally understand about Katherine. I won't bring up the subject again."
Alexis leaves Stefan alone.

Stefan is working on some papers when the lights dim and he sees a mirage of Katherine.
S: "Why are you here?"
K: "To say goodbye, it's time Stefan. It's gone on too long, and we both know how it will end."
S: "You'll be hurt."
K: "Worse than I've all ready been hurt?"
S: "Well you could still recover from the gunshot wound, but the damage my love does is, is irreparable."
K: "Are you sure."
S: "Ask Laura. I loved her, more than my own life. And when she failed me and our son, I turned on her and smashed her world to ruins."
K: "What did she do to you?"
S: "She robbed me. She stole my belief that I could be better than my family. But she showed me. That love is not strength, love is fatal weakness. All weakness I must eliminate."
K: "Is there anyone that you ever loved that you didn't destroy?"
S: "My Nikolas. Not yet. But you see he's infatuated with you. He cares so deeply for Barbara. If we were together he would be hurt doubly."
K: "Then you can never have me."
S: "Never."
K: "Then let me go."
S: "And lose that one part of myself that can still hope. can still dream? Then what do I have to give to my son Katherine? What can I be that his grandmother Helena isn't?"
K: "Then let me stay."
S: "No, to love you would be to hurt Nikolas. That I could never do."
K: "Then let me go."
Katherine fades away.
S: "I can't."

Barbara comes home to Wyndemere and kisses Stefan (I can hear the Eeeews)
B: "Hmm, I knew I missed something last night."
S: "Have you been working all this time?"
B: "No. I made a stop on my way home to see Katherine Bell."
S: "Oh, well then you heard?"
B: "What?"
S: "Well she uh she took a fall last night. I went over to see if she was all right. She was."
Bobbie looks befuddled.

Transcribers prerogative: I hated the Nik crush on Kat. So I'll only transcribe what I feel is important to Stefan and Kat's story.)
Kat's place. Nikolas and Kat talking about Stefan and Bobbie's marriage.
K: "They must be very happy together."
N: "Yeah, I think so anyway."
K: "You don't sound entirely sure."
N: "Well let's just put it this way. I think Bobbie is, but my uncle he's a little bit harder to read sometimes. I mean don't get me wrong. It's not that I'm saying I don't think he's happy. It's just on a good day he's not very expressive. Except for."
K: "Except what?"
N: "I don't know, I don't know. Just lately he's different somehow, you know?"
K: "I'm sure that's to be expected. Marriage is a major life change. Not to mention the added responsibility of running General Hospital."
N: "No, it's not the hospital because business comes natural to him."
K: "Then it's probably what I said. Just the adjustment to married life. I'm sure being a bachelor all his life and then living with someone. I'm sure that can't be an easy transition."
N: "Yeah it's possible, but one things for certain. He's more vulnerable. It's nothing he really says. It's just a feeling I get from him. Like for the first time in his life there's something he's not really sure of."

Wyndemere.
S: "Barbara what is it."
Bobbie has a flashback to Kat's surprise to see her.
B: "I'm sorry, I guess I just got distracted it's nothing."
S: "Now we promised we wouldn't keep secrets from one another. I can tell there's something troubling you. Please tell me what it is?"
B: "OK, I just spent the last half hour with Katherine Bell at her apartment and in all that time she never once mentioned to me that she fell last night or that you came to her rescue. Now don't you feel there's something not quite right about that?"

Kat's Place. (Nik is there)
K: "Well you've certainly got my attention. What do you think it could be?"
N: "I don't know, I haven't got a clue. But I'll tell you this for a man who's used to controlling everything, my uncle sure is off his game. Oh, I need to go. I want to get back and tell him how well you're doing, he was worried when I left."
Wyndemere.
S: "There could be any number of reasons why she didn't mention my visit."
B: "Give me one."
S: "Well maybe you took her by surprise or maybe she was embarrassed about taking a fall."
B: "Ohh, even if that was true. It's too strange for words."
S: "Perhaps it's not only her memory of her shooting that's been affected by her trauma. Why were you there?"
B: "I just wanted to thank her for what she said at Luke's hearing. But I'm curious what did she say about your business proposition?"
S: "Well I never got a chance to mention it. Sonny Corinthos, his father and a friend of Katherine's arrived shortly after I entered the room. And then the nurse returned and I left. You still seem troubled."
Lucas storms into the room.

Stefan and Nikolas are talking about Katherine at Wyndemere. After Nik talks about helping her with Tai Chi every second, minute, hour, day, week, month, year, decade, etc.
N: "The only thing that bothers me is that she's cooped up in that apartment all day and the only one to keep her company is a nurse. She needs to get out more, to be around people."
S: "Perhaps there's something we can do about that."
Kat's penthouse. Kat is wearing pink pajamas (Todd says: Hot!). Carly is moving Kat's legs around and rubbing her feet. (Todd says:I'd like that job)
Carly makes up excuses why she's late. The phone rings.
C: "Katherine Bell's residence. Uh. just a minute please. Katherine, it's Stefan Cassadine."
K: "Hello?"
S: "Ms. Bell, how are you feeling today?"
K: "Fine. Thank you for checking."
S: "I was worried about you."
K: "Yes I know Nikolas told me, but there's no need really I'm fine and as a matter of fact I was working on my physical therapy. Is there something that you wanted?"
Carly does an obvious I'm spying on you take.
S: "Well yes. In all the commotion last night. We never really discussed the reason I was calling you in the first place."
K: "Which was?"
S: "Well General Hospital is in need of some specialized public relations work. (You can say that again) Edward Quartermaine suggested you would be perfect for the job. Would that be something that would be of interest to you?"
K: "No. I'm sorry."
S: "Well we could provide you with an office at the hospital, we could arrange to have your physical therapy sessions there and of course we would provide any special transportation you might need."
K: "No. I appreciate the offer, but no."
S: "(Sigh) Well um, if it's a matter of timing we could put it off until you're ready."
K: "I have my own company to run. I'm sure that you will find somebody for the job. Goodbye Mr. Cassadine." She hangs up.

Later Stefan is working when the phone rings.
S: "Hello?"
K: "Don't ever do that again. You want to play mind games with somebody. You pick a different partner."
S: "I don't know what you're talking about."
K: "I don't want you to ever call me again. You understand that!"
S: "Very well. If that's what you want."
K: "Yes it is!....oh my God."
S: "Katherine, are you all right?"
K: "My leg, I felt my leg."
S: "I need to know that I heard you. Did you say that you could feel your leg."
K: "Yes."
S: "Which one?"
K: "The right one on the thigh, oh my God. I can move it, I can move it."
S: "Katherine you should be examined by a doctor immediately. I'll call Tony Jones and have him meet me there right away."
K: "I thought I made myself perfectly clear. I want you to stay away."
S: "But now, with such news. I want to be there. I should be."
K: "No. Nothing's changed, I'll call Tony Jones myself. Goodbye."
She hangs up. The doorbell rings and Miranda enters.
M: "Hey, have you looked outside today? It is by far the most beautiful day I have.."
Kat looks distraught.
M: "Katherine, what happened?"

At Wyndemere Stefan is upset too. Alexis finds him.
A: "Stefan? Where are you?"
Stefan the billionaire puts on those cheesiest glasses money can buy.
S: "I'm in here Alexis."
A: "Are you all right?"
S: "Yes, I'm extremely busy though. What can I do for you?"
A: "Well I have some information on that woman you wanted me to investigate."
S: "Oh yes Miranda Jamison. What do you have?"
A: "Well I confirmed the fact that she was indeed married to Jasper Jacks and supposedly died in a explosion in Australia. Before that, nothing."
S: "There's never nothing."
A: "Well then this is a first. Either we're both hallucinating and this woman doesn't really exist or she's really good at hiding something."

Kat's place. (Talking with Miranda).
M: "Tell me what's wrong?"
K: "Actually it's very right."
M: "Well tell me."
K: "I felt my leg. Right here (touching her thigh) and I think I moved it."
M: "Oh Katherine that's wonderful. It's ok, it's ok. I understand. Believe me the first time I looked remotely human again after so many operations. I cried for days."
K: "That's not why I'm upset."
M: "What is it?"
K: "When it happened I was talking to Stefan on the phone. I was trying to tell him to stay away from me and suddenly I felt this sensation in my leg. I tried to move it and I could."
M: "And did you tell him?"
K: "How could I not? He's connected to all this Miranda. The shooting, my determination to walk again and now this. And no matter how much I tell myself about being done with him. I don't think that's ever going to happen."
M: "Sometimes no matter how hard you try to pull away from something, you can't. And no matter how hard you hold onto it, it slips away."
K: "So what should I do?"
M: "Fight it and lose, or give in."
They go on to talk about Jax.

Wyndemere.
A: "I even improvised some of my own and I still can't find anything on Miranda Jamison. So I will continue to investigate this if you'd like, but I don't think I'm going to come up with anything."
Stefan is distracted.
A: "Hello? Stefan?"
S: "Yes uh, if you feel you will turn something up then by all means continue the investigation."
A: "That's not what I said."
S: "Then what?"
A: "You weren't listening, I hate that."
S: "(Sigh) I'm sorry Alexis. I know you work very hard and I do appreciate it."
A: "You're not going to patronize me now are you? You know that never works."
S: "Is that what I'm doing?"
A: "What happened with Katherine Bell."
S: "Why would you assume that something happened with Katherine?"
A: "Because she's the only person I know that can distract you from what you need to do."
S: "(Sigh) This um, nothing really. It was a minor incident."
A: "I'm not going to judge you. I all ready told you that."
S: "I remember."
A: "But you don't believe me. I am not condoning this, but ever since I can remember you have been my champion. So if you need me listen, or help you. I will if you want me too."
S: "I spoke to Katherine a few minutes ago. While we were on the phone she felt a sensation in her leg. Possibly even movement."
A: "That's wonderful. Isn't it?"
S: "Yes. She asked that I not contact her again."
A: "Why would she do that?"
S: "Does it matter?"
A: "It sounds like Katherine's made an emotional decision. Once she's thinking more clearly she'll change her mind."
S: "Well actually it's not a bad idea. I would like to keep my distance from her. It just doesn't seem possible."
A: "I know that I said I would help you, in any way that I can."
S: "Thank you."
A: "But you need to be careful. I mean there's Bobbie and Nikolas to consider, I mean you don't want them hurt or touched by this in anyway."
S: "Obviously. Barbara should be back from dropping Lucas off. I need to speak to her. Thank you for everything."
He gives her a kiss on the cheek. Alexis looks puzzled.
Later in a story that was apparently dropped (For the virus story?), Alexis is reading a letter she wrote to someone. (Forever undisclosed I assume)
A: ' As usual my darling the biggest news is how much I miss you. Being apart breaks my heart everyday and I can't wait until we're together again. Life in Port Charles is never dull, (That's Alexis' opinion.) However it does have it's surprises. In particular, Stefan. He's been well different in the past couple of months. The reasons are complex. But some day I will explain them to you.'

Kat's place.
Katherine is staring at the crystal tree.
M: "Knowing what you should do, is worthless isn't it?"
The doorbell rings. Oh it's Dorman. Cut!

Wyndemere. Stefan's phone rings.
S: "Stefan Cassadine."
K: "I've been thinking."
S: "Katherine?"
K: "Yes."
S: "Oh um, what did the doctor (cough), what did the doctor say?"
K: "Nothing really. I'm not even sure why I called. I.."
S: "I'll be right there. Katherine?"
K: "All right."

Meanwhile Bobbie is searching a storeroom for Lesley's records and an electrical short causes a fire.
Kat's place. Kat is talking to Miranda.
M: Something. "Was that a hint?"
K: "No actually just the opposite. I'd like you to spend the night."(YEA! oh she was talking to Miranda.)
M: "Look I appreciate what you're doing but it's really not necessary."
K: "I have no idea what you mean."
M: "Jax did not say anything that I didn't expect him to say, and I'm not so traumatized that I can't go home alone."
K: "You can spend the night in my room upstairs. I'm certainly not using it. You can enjoy the four poster bed, the fireplace, not to mention the beautiful city view. Why don't you go check it out?"
M: "All right, but that's not a yes."
K: "Of course not." The doorbell rings.
K: " I'm expecting company."

K: "If you wouldn't mind."
M: "Stefan?"
The doorbell rings again.
K: "Well you better go get it before he thinks I've fallen and kicks the door in again."
M: "As long as you put it that way."
Stefan enters.
S: "Good evening Ms.?"
M: "Jamison."
S: "Jamison. Yes."
Stefan to Katherine.
S: "Hello."
K: "Hello."
They stare at each other awhile.
K: "Thank you for coming."
S: "My pleasure. Well what did Dr. Jones say about the sensation in your leg?"
K: "He was busy so the hospital sent Dr. Dorman."
S: "Dorman?"
K: "Yea, he seemed to know what he was doing. I was careful not to harass him though."
S: "Well did he offer an opinion?"
K: "He said they need to do more tests. But he wasn't very optimistic."
S: "Well ignore him. Pierce Dorman is only on staff because at present there is no legal way to remove him. But it borders on incompetence that the hospital would send him here. Who's ever responsible.."
K: "He was the neurosurgeon on call. He came here, he did his job. I don't have to go along with his opinion, but that doesn't make him incompetent."
S: "Then you're not discouraged?"
K: "No. I know what I felt. Miranda says I shouldn't listen to him either and she knows I'm going to walk again soon."
Stefan turns to look at Miranda.
S: "Then we agree?"
M: "Absolutely. Excuse me."
K: "Help yourself to nightgowns or whatever you need. There's toothbrushes in the upstairs closet."
S: "She's uh tactful."
K: "She's a good friend."
S: "If she encourages you to have faith in the progress you've made. Then yes, although tonight she seems more like a chaperone."
K: "Why would we need one? We've spent enough time together at night."
S: "I was thinking of that when you phoned."
K: "I probably shouldn't have, so late."
S: "You can call anytime."
K: "Bobbie wouldn't agree with that."
S: "She'd assume you were calling for Nikolas."
K: "Wow, it's really frightening how easily you do that."
S: "What?"
K: "Twist a persons actions to suit your needs."
S: "Well I didn't arrange for your friendship with Nikolas."
K: "But you're still exploiting it. It's a gift to get what you want without betraying your goal. In fact that's why I asked you here. I've been thinking about your offer to be the p.r. representative for General Hospital."
S: "Really? Your refusal was fairly adamant."
K: "Does that mean the offers withdrawn?"
S: "Of course not. Edward Quartermaine assures me you're perfect for the job."
K: "Oh, well that's not a surprise. His eye has wandered in my direction on more than one occasion and I think I might have been tempted if he wasn't so devoted to Lila."
S: "Somehow I find it difficult to picture you with Edward Quartermaine."
K: "Why? He's everything I find attractive in a man. He's powerful, distinguished, a little bit ruthless."
S: "Septuagenarian."
K: "I didn't say he was perfect."
S: "Who is?"
K: "No one I'm interested in. I think it would be good for me to get back to work. Give me a mental challenge to balance out the physical one. I think this way I could help out General Hospital and try to keep it solvent, until the Stone Cates wing is open."
S: "Oh, I wasn't aware that was a personal cause of yours."
K: "Well Stone Cates was in love with Robin, Mac's niece."
S: "Commissioner Scorpio. Someone else I can't quite picture you with."
K: "Mac is a good man uh, but you're right it does seem like a completely different life."
They stare into one anothers eyes.
K: "Maybe I should think about this twice."
S: "Why?"
K: "Because I have my own business to run, although my vice president has been doing a good job for me. Maybe it would just be too difficult to be at the hospital everyday and see you and Bobbie there."
S: "Well uh, Barbara told me she paid you a visit. She doesn't perceive you as a threat."
K: "Well I'm sure she's a little more than confused about it. I know I certainly am. But I know what I need to walk again and working at General Hospital is part of that. So uh I accept. Yes."

Stefan's cell phone rings.
S: "Should I ignore that?"
K: "No it must be important to call so late."
S: "Stefan Cassadine. What? Mrs. Landsbury. OK calm down, tell me, tell me what happened. Calm down."

Luke is at Bobbies hospital bedside when she wakes up.
L: "Hi baby sister."
The door opens it's Stefan. He looks shocked. Luke's eyes are filled with hatred.
Stefan closes the door and walks in.
L: "Barbara Jean you know why you went to that storage room, because you were being lied to. Come on now, don't back off trust your instincts, you've always had great radar for that. Come on now."
S: "Barbara. Are you all right?"
Bobbie's voice is raspy.
B: "Yea, I'm a little shaky but I'm all right."
S: "When I heard what happened I, I was so worried. I don't know what I would have done if you had been seriously injured."
L: "Bobbie you know the truth. You can't deny it. With the truth you always made the right choices. Don't be afraid, I'm here like always.
Bobbie reaches out her free hand to Stefan. Who takes it and sits down.
L: "Bobbie you know why you doubt him. Because he deserves nothing but doubt. Because he's a liar."
B: "Luke please."
L: "A lot of people love you Barbara. You're a respected woman in this town. You won't be alone if that's what you're afraid of."
B: "Don't do this Stefan is my husband."
L: "That doesn't mean much to me."
B: "It does to me."
L: "Bobbie the man who started that fire is staring you in the face. He wanted to destroy those records so bad he didn't give a damn if you were hurt in the process."
S: "I could never hurt you Barbara. I know you believe that."
B: "I do."
S: "But I'm telling you I had nothing to do with that fire."
L: "Tell him who saved your life. You do like irony don't you?"
S: "Yes. Tell me, I'll be indebted to him always. Who was it?"
B: "Tony."
Luke has a triumphant look on his face. Stefan doesn't seem to care.

Stefan and Bobbie alone.
B: "We should probably have a little chat wouldn't you say?"
S: "We can wait until you feel stronger."
B: "I'm always strong enough to hear the truth."
S: "All right. The truth is that you went to that storeroom because you don't trust me. Am I right?"
B: "I was there because I have questions that involve my family. Lesley Webber is Luke's mother in law, and what affects Luke affects me too."
S: "I understand."
B: "I needed some answers. That doesn't mean I don't trust you Stefan. Because I do."
S: "I'm happy to hear it. I only hope it's true."
B: "Tell me what happened?"
S: "You were there. You said you saw the fire start. What more can I add? Unless you're taking Luke's position."
B: "Oh Luke, actually though he does in a way make a demented kind of sense. It's not a stretch to think that somebody wanted those records destroyed, and you're the only one that would care about Lesley's charts."
S: "Are you saying that I did it?"
B: "No. I honestly don't believe you'd put me in that kind of danger. I saw your face when you came into this room. I know you care about me."
S: "I do Barbara, very much."
B: "But you're not willing to share what you know. That's difficult for me."
S: "I'm not hiding anything."
B: "Then what are you doing Stefan? Are you trying to protect me? You don't have to do that. I'd rather know the truth."
S: "I swear on the lives of everyone I hold dear. I did not start that fire."
Nikolas comes in and Stefan sees how attached to Bobbie he is.

Stefan and Amy are walking down the corridor to the nurses station.
S: "You have everything?"
A: "But of course. All of Bobbie's meals are being catered by the petite gourmet on Willis. Tonight's dinner will begin with fresh tomato basil soup followed by Caesar’s salad with homemade garlic croutons, main course will be seared breast of chicken and medallions of salmon and rosemary cream. How am I doing so far?"
S: "Excellent."
A: "Tons and tons of fresh flowers will be delivered daily from by romantic nights flowers and an ecru colored silk(?) set will be delivered just before her evening bath. Boy Bobbie really hit the jackpot when she married you. Imagine a husband who gives her lot's of stuff." Amy walks away smugly. Stefan turns and there's Luke.
L: "Who said money can't buy you love."
S: "I have something to show you." handing Luke a stack of papers.
L: "This supposed to have meaning for me?"
S: "It's a printout of the directory of General Hospitals computer mainframe hard drive. Are you computer literate?"
L: "Some."
S: "I'll translate. It shows that all the hard copy files destroyed in the fire still exist on disk. I believe that eliminates my motive. Wouldn't you say?" Stefan smiles and walks away.
Amy and Stefan at the nurses station.
A: "OK, the caterers are delivering Bobbie's dinner at six o'clock and those poor florists had to send to three different places in order to fulfill your floral fantasy."
S: "Well will you make sure the flowers are delivered to Barbara's room as soon as they arrive?"
A: "Absolutely, within the hour."
S: "Thank you Amy. I won't forget what a great help you've been."
Amy gives him a nod and a strange look.
S: "Something wrong?"
A: "I don't know."
S: "If there's something you want to ask me?"
A: "Uh no, actually no. But you know what? I will remember that offers on the table."

Alexis approaches Stefan.
Alexis: "You're always so thoughtful with gifts and flowers."
Stefan: "Despite my other shortcomings as a husband?"
A: "That's a wife's judgment to make. Not mine."
S: "I won't give Barbara or you any further cause to doubt my seriousness. My connection to Katherine Bell will be severed today. Permanently."

A new nurse for Katherine opens the door. It's Luke.
Nurse: "Is Ms. Bell expecting you?"
L: "Uh probably, I'm not scheduled. But I am inevitable."
K: "Have you ever slammed the door in someone's face Theresa? Now would be a good time to practice."
L: "You wouldn't say that if you knew what I brought ya. Your little fluttering heart's desire. On a silver platter."
K: "Theresa would you make me a fresh pot of coffee?"
T: "How does the gentleman take it?"
K: "I don't know. I'll ask him when he gets here."
The nurse leaves.
K: "I'm expecting company."
L: "Would he be dark, brooding and underage or just dark? 'Cause I know where both of them are."
K: "Can we get to the point?"
L: "We're there. Uncle and nephew are standing stoic vigil at my sisters hospital bed."
K: "How is she?"
L: "You know? Of course you know. She's married to him so you must keep an eye on her."
K: "All I know is that she was trapped by a fire with Tony in a warehouse."
L: "That's the version you got? Why am I not surprised?"
Luke takes off his jacket and throws it on the couch and sits down.
L: "Katherine, Tony only got there in time to save Bobbie from being burned alive. She was there looking for information on her husband. You see my sister is stubborn, she doesn't want to admit that she painted herself into a corner without undeniable proof. Which is difficult to get with this guy, as you know. He's Mr. Eraser. Your memory being the most recently erased. But anyway that's what Bobbie was doing when she was almost burned alive. Now guess what the official reason for the fire is being called? Under investigation."
K: "I'm sure she was terrified."
L: "You look a little pale yourself."
K: "I don't understand why you're telling me all of this. Must be something you want?"
L: "I want my sister back. Look I'm not here to save you from yourself or this ungrateful burg from anything. I just want Bobbie off the barbed wire tightrope. The next time she tries to get information on her husband it may cost her more than singed lungs."
K: "So you're asking me to believe that Stefan would try to murder his wife?"
L: "I have a request but it's more practical then that."
K: "Let me guess. You want me to go to the police and say that he's the one that shot me?"
L: "No, no Katherine. I've given that up. I forgot who I was dealing with, I guess it was the wheelchair and that slight whiff of martyrdom that goes with it. No uh, uh I realize why should you be any less selfish or vain on wheels than you are on high heels."
K: "True enough."
Luke walks behind her and leans toward her ear.
L: "Is it Cassadine you want? Do you like it when he moons and gives you the big cow eyes, or maybe he's giving you more than the cow eyes. I don't want to think about that, I just ate."
K: "You know I've heard enough." She spins the chair to face him.
L: "All right here's my proposition. You say three little words, right here, right now and he's yours for keeps."

Stefan and Alexis sit on the couch in the nurses station.
A: "I gather the fire is what brought on this soul searching?"
S: "Barbara could've been killed."
A: "Can you prove you were someplace else at the time?"
Stefan gives her a 'give me a break' look.
A: "I'm a lawyer Stefan."
S: "I could but I won't have to."
A: "Luke Spencer and Tom Hardy will have you standing outside that warehouse with a can of gasoline and a match."
S: "Mm hmm. Luke all ready tried that. Barbara wouldn't believe it."
A: "That's something."
S: "No, it's everything. I watched him play her for everything he was worth. He drew on their orphan past together, her sense of estrangement. He promised her absolution if she'd leave me and rejoin the fold. But she chose me, in my whole life only one other person aside from Nikolas, ever showed that kind of faith in me, you. I think she loves me Alexis, it's not something that I expected or even asked for but there it is."
A: "I'm glad you realize that. I just hope it isn't too late. It wasn't faith that led her to the warehouse."
S: "Her questions about Lesley Webber are easily enough addressed, they would have never even have come up, except for the distance she sensed in me."
A: "Because of Katherine?"
S: "Yes. It is time that I put my house in order. You were right to say so. Nikolas adores Barbara, if I were to lose her I'd stand a chance of losing him as well. Not to mention everything else we've set in motion. I was slow to see how all of these intangible loyalties and affections could compromise our purpose here, but they have, they do. Especially my own. Katherine Bell is extraneous."
A: "I'm sorry I do have some understanding of what she means to you. But you're making the right choice."
S: "It's not a choice Alexis. It's a necessity."

Back at Kat's. Luke's still there.
K: Three little words?"
L: "He shot me. Come on Katherine, you say 'em now. You'll never have to say 'em again. You know he did it, I know he did it. It's just a formality."
K: "Haven't we done this dance before Luke?"
L: "You're not paying attention. I'm not asking for a sworn statement, I'm not going to run to the cops the minute the words fall out of your mouth. And even if I did you could deny it, I've got nothin' up my sleeve. I'm not wearing a wire, you want to search me?"
K: "No thank you. You know I don't get you're trying to accomplish here. You just want to be told you're right, is that it? If you're so sure you're right, why do you need me to say anything?"
L: "Because I can't tell my sister you said it, unless you do."
K: "Oh I see, so much for that confidentiality and all that stuff."
L: "Look you'll never say it to Bobbie, you'd just look into her eyes and lie again. I know that. But she'll come to you because she won't take it on faith from me, and you don't have to say anything. All you have to do is not deny it and you're great at that. I mean that's what you're doing now. And then she'll doubt him and then she'll go back to the castle and she'll look around and then she'll pack her bags and she'll leave him to you. Three little words, he shot me. And he's yours."
K: "You want to destroy your sisters marriage?"
L: "No I just want to open a window and let a little air into it. She'll do the rest."
K: "And you think she'll thank you for that?"
L: "What's that got to do with anything?"
K: "If you break her heart so what huh?"
L: "Better a broken heart then a broken neck."
K: "Unless it's my neck apparently, you don't seem too concerned about the murderous Mr. Cassadine murdering me."
L: "Hey, you seem to think you can handle him and so far you're doing ok. I don't know what it is you see in him though. I mean you got money, so I'm assuming it's something else, maybe you've fallen for that whole Greco-Russian nobility routine. What does he call you his little baklava? Or maybe I'm being cynical and it's true love. He might be capable they say even rat's have emotions and the Cassadine's are only one step below them on the food chain."
K: "OK, lets say you're right about everything. Stefan is the reason I'm in this wheelchair and for some inexplicable reason I'm in love with him. Why would I betray him to his worst enemy?"
L: "Well it'll only hurt for a minute. Then the two of you can rush into each others arms and whisper sweet nasties 'til your teeth fall out."
K: "Is that what you think?"
L: "What's to stop ya?"
K: "Take a good look at me Luke. I am not rushing into anyone's arms or anywhere anytime soon if ever. Do you really think he would want me, this way?"
L: "Do I detect a note of low self esteem. That's not like you."
K: "If you had any idea what was like me or what wasn't you wouldn't be here right now. Now why don't you do us both a favor and get out of here."
L: "Well I guess I was wrong."
K: "Well I imagine that must be a first."
L: "You think the only way to hang onto him is to hold onto his secret. Don't you?"
K: "If I had a big secret to keep I would have better reasons."
L: "Well excuse me for being dense. But uh what would they be you're going to have to draw me a picture." The doorbell rings.
L: "I'll get it. I'll get it." It's Nikolas.
N: "What are you doing here?"
L: "Save that picture now I know."
Nikolas: "Are you all right?"
K: "I'm glad to see you."
L: "Well it's one thing to be soft hearted. It's another to be soft headed. You know where to find me."

Back at GH. Stefan and Alexis.
S: "I offered her a position here. I'll have to retract it obviously."
A: "Well I will write something on GH letterhead. Owing to certain budgetary concerns we are obliged to extend our current hiring freeze to several departments etc. etc. She won't blame you. I think it's safer than seeing her again don't you?"
S: "Safer? I suppose so."
A: "What about Nikolas? He seems very attached to Katherine."
S: "Well he's more attached to Barbara and that's the point here."
A: "All right then, what's Katherine's reaction likely to be? What I am asking is how probable is blackmail?"
Stefan sighs.
A: "That's why you have me here Stefan to help you think of all the possible consequences."
S: "Well blackmail will not be one of them."
A: "Well then the rest is simple. Family comes first, that's what we always say. We used to ask ourselves why. We don't do that anymore so I guess we must have found an answer somewhere along the line."
S: "Did we?"
A: "When I remember what it was, I'll write it down for future reference."
S: "You do that."
A saddened Stefan kisses Alexis on the cheek and leaves.

Katherine's. Nik is there.

Nikolas: "I mean people think that you have visitors walking in and out of here every day. Which is exactly the reason why you don't. Like Bobbie she still wonders if my uncle still comes to see you."
Doorbell. Nikolas gets up to answer it.
Nikolas: "If that's Luke I'm not letting him in."
It's Stefan. There's an awkward moment of silence. Nikolas is surprised. Kat can tell by Stefan's face that something’s wrong.
N: "Is there something wrong uncle?"
S: "No why do you ask?"
N: "Well, I didn't expect to see you here, that's all."
S: "I have a business matter to discuss with Katherine."
N: "What? The public relations work for the hospital Edward Quartermaine suggested?"
S: "Yes."
N: "You going back to work?"
K: "I'm considering it."
N: "Well that's great, that's exactly what you need."
K: "I thought so too."
N: "Well I know you're bored even with the Tai Chi, Physical Therapy and all the books you have to read."
Stefan and Kat are staring at one another as Nikolas babbles on.
N: "I finally got her to admit how awful it is to be stuck inside when the weathers so beautiful, and she still won't let me take her on that ride out in the country."
K: "I will soon I promise but I need to pace myself and so do you. I don't want you to ignore your studies."
N: "I won't my uncle can vouch for that."
S: "Oh yes, Nikolas has been doing university level work for some time."
K: "Good, then well I won't feel guilty."
N: "Well I hope not. So tell me when do you start?"
K: "It hasn't been decided."
N: "Well I hope it's soon."
K: "Nikolas could you do me a big favor?"
N: "Sure of course."
K: "Would you take a walk along the lake and check out all the first signs of spring. So the next time you come back here for Tai Chi you can fill me in, so I won't feel like I'm being deprived."
N: "I think I can do even better than that. I'll see you later."
Nikolas leaves.
Stefan and Kat at her place:

K: "Things have changed haven't they?"
S: "Yes they have."
K: "I could tell by your face the moment you walked through the door. Why don't I save you the trouble of breaking the news to me. The job at GH is off right?"
S: "Yes I'm sorry."
K: "Well that's certainly a first being fired before I even had a chance to screw up."
S: "You could of easily done the job. It has nothing to do with your professional competence."
K: "No. It has to do with Bobbie. Doesn't it? She's beginning to watch you and ask questions that she might not like the answers to, and you're having to be extra careful."
S: "Well that would be the wise thing to do don't you think?"
K: "I don't know. I've never been good at figuring out what's wise and what isn't. For myself anyway. But I can definitely see it's a move that works for you. How is Bobbie handling her ordeal?"
S: "She's doing fine. It could of easily been otherwise."
K: "I'm sure it was a real wake up call for you."
S: "I'm not sure what you mean by that."
K: "Your wife is trapped in a fire in a warehouse that stores old hospital records. What was she doing there? Let me make an educated guess, she was looking for Lesley Webbers file. and trying to go back and figure out how ten years ago she could identify the corpse of a woman who isn't dead after all. What would be your guess?"
S: "When was he here?"
K: "Who?"
S: "Luke Spencer. He's obviously your new source of information. I can hear his voice in your words."
K: "What difference does it make what my source is. It's true isn't it? Why do I bother asking what's true and what isn't you're never going to tell the truth. You just tell people bits and pieces, just enough to keep them satisfied. Why did I think I was special? And that you were going to be different with me somehow?"
S: "I think I am different with you."
K: "I don't believe you!"
Katherine starts wheeling her chair to the door when Stefan grabs it and stops her.
S: "I can't even begin to understand my feelings for you Katherine. I think you know that, I think you've known that all along. If you think I'm trying to avoid your questions, withhold something, it's not out of a desire to lie to you. It's because I'm not accustomed to this! I don't know what this is! When I make a decision it's final! I do not change my mind! When I came here today I knew what I had to do. My intentions were written in stone. Then I walked through that door, and I saw your face. This is not how I do things."
K: "Well it's either a remarkable transformation or a remarkable performance."
Katherine is on the edge of tears. Stefan takes off his coat and throws it on the couch.
S: "All right. If you have questions you want answered, I will try to be as truthful as I can. Tell me what it is you want to know."
K: "What was the real reason you married Bobbie Jones? The reason you married Bobbie Jones, is there something about that question you don't understand?"
S: "No. I only hesitate because obviously you have your own theory about why I married Barbara. Because I was trying to establish myself as some kind of model citizen."
K: "Feel free to contradict."
S: "Oh no, there is some truth to that. I realized that when I came here my reputation preceded me. People who had been listening to Luke Spencer all those years assumed the Cassadine's were evil incarnate. With the exception of Barbara. She was willing to give me the benefit of the doubt. Marrying her made me flesh and blood, not some Port Charles myth."
K: "And it didn't hurt that she was Luke Spencer's sister?"
S: "No. That irony wasn't lost on either one of us."
K: "No, I'm sure it wasn't. So you say that part of my theory is true. Why don't you tell me what the rest is."
S: "Barbara nursed Nikolas when he was injured. Over time he grew extremely fond of her. She's the closest thing to a loving mother he's ever had. And she's good for him. Sometimes with her, I see traces of the teenage boy he really is. The one he doesn't get to be very often, because he carries the burden of the Cassadine name."
K: "I have another theory. Would you like to hear it?"
S: "Of course."
K: "You must of been aware that if you married someone rooted in the community. A citizen of this country. That people would be less inclined to wonder why you didn't live in a glamorous world capital, instead of Port Charles."
S: "You're good at this Katherine."
K: "Of course I am. I think the way you think. Haven't you ever met anyone who did that before?"
S: "So does it work both ways Katherine? Am I able to intuit your motives as well?"
K: "You definitely have your moments."
S: "Is there something else you'd like to know about my marriage?"
K: "In real life it's known as cut to the chase. I told you my theories about Bobbie, was I right?"
S: "I promised you I'd be as truthful as I could and I haven't lied."
K: "Except by omission. You haven't said a word about love. Did you love your wife when you married her?"
Stefan is silent.
K: "Do you love Bobbie?"
S: "Before I married her, I vowed to Nikolas I would never hurt her."
K: "That doesn't answer the question."
S: "It does for me."
K: "Why am I sitting here begging for answers when I all ready know what they are?"
Katherine is on the verge of tears.
K: "Just go please, get out now."

Stefan gets his coat and looks at Katherine. He starts to leave then throws his coat over a chair and rushes back and kisses Katherine passionately!!!!!
She doesn't resist. He traces his fingers across her face and silently leaves, giving her one last look before he closes the door. Katherine touches her lips.

Katherine is doing physical therapy in her apartment. Carly is there.
K: "Eleven, twelve."
Carly is distracted.
K: "C'mon where’s my cheerleading section."
C: "What? Oh God, Katherine I'm sorry. That was great."
K: "That was great, that was two more than last time."
C: "Well you are getting much stronger little miss."
K: "I know so let's do it again."
C: "Well no, that's ok you've earned your rest."
K: "No I can rest later. Really I want to keep doing it, unless you think as my therapist. Well are you against it?"
C: "Well there's just a thing as overdoing. You know?
K: "Really? Tony said I should push it."
C: "Well God knows, Tony is always right. So go ahead, knock yourself out."
K: The feeling in my leg is getting stronger everyday, and I want the rest of my body to be in shape for when I walk again."
C: "Wow I have to say that your attitude has done a complete 180. What's going on?
K: "Suddenly everything's crystal clear."
The doorbell rings. Carly answers. It's Miranda.
C: "Hi."
M: "Hi am I interrupting a session?"
C: "No we're just finishing up. Come on in."
K: "Check it out. The glow of good health."
M: "Well fabulous. I'd ask how you are doing but obviously you're doing great."
K: "I'm glad you're here. There's something I want to consult with you about."
C: "Um, we're finished up here. So if you don't mind, I'm going to head home. I'm kind of expecting a delivery."
K: "Sure."
C: "Katherine that was a great effort by the way, you did fabulous and you should be really proud of yourself."
K: "Thank you. I'll see you tomorrow."
M: "Bye- bye."
Carly leaves.
M: "Well what's happened to you? You are glowing and I don't think it's from a workout."
K: "I'm happy."
M: "Why?"
K: "I know what I want and I know I'm going to get it."
M: "You realize you're going to be walking. I told you it would make a world of difference."
K: "Please, for once I'm not talking about that. Stefan came to visit me last night."
M: "And you're not upset?"
K: "Do I look it?"
M: "Well he hasn't exactly been a source of joy lately."
K: "I admit the visit started out badly. He came to say goodbye. Not that there's anything to break off, but he looked sad. He didn't say it, he just acted it. It was almost as if something he had to do."
M: "Yes it's appropriate for a married man, but what did you do?"
K: "I got mad. I didn't ask for this. So I asked him to leave."
M: "Beat him to the punch huh?"
K: "I hate being told we can still be friends."
M: "Yea, been there hated it. So why does this make you so happy?"
K: "Because instead of leaving. He gathered me in his arms and kissed me like I've never been kissed before."
M: "Really?"
K: "I have found my man, and know that someday, somehow we are going to be together."

Stefan gives a file on Lesley to Bobbie.

Back at the penthouse, Kat and Miranda:
M: "You sound pretty sure of yourself. Do you always get what you want?"
K: "Usually, eventually. I don't always keep it but one thing at a time."
M: "So are we talking affair? Or do you think he's going to leave Bobbie for you?"
K: "He doesn't love her. No man who loves his wife kisses another woman the way he kissed me."
M: "No offense, but that doesn't mean he's going to leave her. Believe me men stay with their wives for the strangest of reasons. Whether it's guilt, or convenience or fear of losing money."
K: "Well if he want's me as much as I think he does. He's gonna find a way."
M: "And what are you going to do?"
K: "Well the first thing obviously is I'm going to relearn to walk."
M: "Well Stefan is fine with you, the way you are now."
K: "But I'm not. With him as my goal how can I not be motivated."

*The doorbell rings. It's Nikolas who fawns over Katherine and praises Bobbie.

*Meanwhile Bobbie proposes that she and Stefan leave Port Charles to see the world. Stefan comes up with reasons to stay.

*Nikolas leaves Kat's.
K: "What am I going to do? Even if Stefan wanted to be with me, he wouldn't it would destroy Nikolas."

Stefan is staring out the window at Wyndemere. When the 'vision' of Katherine walks up behind.
K: "Thinking about me?"
S: "How could I not?"
K: "I'm haunting you, you know?"
S: "I've never felt this way before. I want to forget everything and everyone else in the world."
K: "Then find away for us to be together. Or I won't let you have a moments peace."
S: "So many obstacles."
K: "That's never stopped you before."
S: "(Sigh) I could lose everything. Everything I've worked for."
K: "But you have so much to gain. You get me in return. All of me. Stefan."
B: "Stefan?"

*Bobbie jolts Stefan out of his dreamstate. She wants to make love, he makes up an excuse to go to the hospital.

Back at Kat's, she's talking to Miranda.
K: "That's why Stefan came here to break it off with me. To protect his nephew. Nikolas is like a son to him."
M: "Well somehow Mr. Cassadine doesn't strike me as the selfless type."
K: "Well even if he isn't, I should be. That's why he's been nothing but kind to me."
M: "Why are you creating problems? Are you scared of being happy?"
K: "I have learned the hard way you can't be happy at someone else’s expense. Don't get me wrong it's not that I'm not tempted to be selfish. It's just that I would be afraid of how I'll be punished."
M: "Why is it selfish to want your own happiness?"
K: "Nikolas' mother left him three times. I saw how miserable that made him. I tried to comfort him. Bobbie tried to comfort him. I think Bobbie is the closest thing to a real mother that he's ever really had. She has given him real emotional stability. I won't wreck that, I can't."
M: "If your feelings for Stefan are real."
K: "They are."
M: "Then that boy who has grown up in a house full of liars. Might finally get a chance to see what a real relationship is like."
K: "You certainly have some strong opinions about the Cassadines."
M: "Well Mac has filled me in and I've learned quite a bit through the hospital. Besides that I have my own personal experience to draw on."
K: "With him?"
M: "No. With noble self sacrifice. For the sake of another’s marriage. It doesn't work. It didn't help Jax and look at me, I don't feel very noble. I feel stupid and miserable."
K: "You're not stupid. You're just too sensitive."
M: "Look, there are a million reasons and obstacles to keep you from Stefan. But if he is what you need and what you want and he wants and needs you too, then why hold back."
K: "Moral instinct?"
M: "Since when is that your long suit?"
K: "All right. I'll think about it."
M: "Sure, just don't think about it too long. Trains pull out of stations girlfriend. Trust me I know."

Stefan is at his desk at GH and closes his eyes and flashes back to kissing Katherine. A voice makes him look up.
K: "I'm ready. Shall we get to work?"
Stefan is silent as he stares at Katherine in the doorway.
K: "Aren't you glad to see me?"
S: "Yes, I'm happy to see you Katherine, but I'm surprised."
K: "You offered me the job at GH and you were delighted when I accepted."
S: "Yes I was, but.."
K: "Then you withdrew the offer. For reasons that you admitted had nothing to do with my ability and I went along with that, but I have reconsidered your withdrawal. And I'm not going to accept that. I'm taking the job."
S: "I see."
K: "Good I'm glad that's settled."
As she wheels herself into his office.
S: "Well I'm afraid it's not quite that simple. Things were said by both of us that aren't so easily dismissed."
K: "I'd call that a draw."
S: "You were angry, you accused me of lying and worse."
K: "And your reaction was to kiss me and walk out. What did you expect me to make of that?"
S: "I don't know."
K: "I hate to contradict you but I think you do know."
S: "I don't think you hate contradicting me. You said you know how I think. So tell me now what I'm thinking about us."
K: "You're confused. You're trying to find where I fit into your life. And you don't want me to give up on you until you figure it out."
S: "That's what you made of my kiss?"
K: "Well I don't want to analyze it too much. I don't want to second guess it. I'm comfortable with taking action."
S: "Cutting to the chase? So you show up here ready for work?"
K: "You left the ball in my court. It's my serve."
S: "Does this mean that you're no longer suspicious of my motives?"
K: "Oh no, I'm very suspicious of you. You think just like I do and I know what I'm capable of."
S: "I've never known anyone quite like you before."
K: "The feelings mutual. Well here's the deal. Every man for himself, I'm comfortable with that if you are. I know what I'm doing and I know what I want."
S: "And what is that?"
K: "You."
A silent moment as they look into each others eyes.
S: "What do you want me for Katherine?"
K: "Selfish reasons. You give me something. Something wonderful and magical and something's that's helping me heal. I'm not even going to begin to question it. I just know that I do not intend to stay in this chair the rest of my life."
S: "You won't."
K: "I'm using you. I mean how do I know you haven't been using me? Just to keep me silent. Does it matter? Maybe it will matter when I'm on my feet again. And I am going to walk again, because of you. You make me want too."
S: "I'm not using you Katherine. There are times I wish you would just go and tell the police so I could prove that to you. Not that I'm incapable. It's true schemes and subterfuge have been a way of life for me."
He kneels by her chair.
S: "But I swear to you Katherine. I have no ulterior motive with you. In one terrifying moment I changed your life but you changed my life too, and there's no other place in the world I'd rather be than right here with you."
Katherine touches his cheek.
K: "I feel the same way."
Stefan kisses her hand.

Alexis walks in and witnesses the moment.
Alexis starts to walk away, then reconsiders and knocks.

S: "Oh, Alexis. Good afternoon." Stefan stands.
A: "Hello Stefan. Katherine what a surprise."
K: "Yes I'm full of surprises today."
S: "Uh. Katherine has agreed to handle the public relations for General Hospital."
A: "Well that's wonderful, and I'm sure that the way Edward raves about you, I'm sure your expertise will prove invaluable. As a matter of fact I was just at the Quartermaine’s. We were wresting out that thorny question will there be life after Pierce Dorman."
S: "Katherine, would you excuse me a moment? I need to have a word privately with my cousin."
K: "Of course."

Stefan escorts Alexis into the hallway and closes the door.
S: "I realize your seeing me with Katherine that way must have been a shock."
A: "You gave me your word you were breaking things off with Katherine. You misled me. Again."
S: "I had every intention of breaking it off with Katherine. I tried."
A: "You don't try to do anything Stefan. You either do it or you don't."
S: This I will not do."
A: "All right then, I guess we move on to plan B. I forgot, do we have a plan B?"
S: "She needs me Alexis. I can't turn away from her. Not after what I did. I know that you don't agree with me about this."
A: "I was surprised to see her here, but as I told you before I won't question whatever decision you make about Katherine and I'll stand by that. You can count on my discretion about Katherine or anything else you need."
S: "That means a great deal to me."
A: "You know there's one thing I can't do for you and it's going to be very tricky with Bobbie and Katherine around the hospital together."
S: "I have two priorities right now. One is to help Katherine. The other is to see that Barbara does not get hurt in the process. Now I feel that I know how to handle the situation for the immediate future and I promise I will be more discreet from now on. Trust me."
A: "I will."
S: "Then I'll see you later."

Stefan reenters his office. Wisely closing the door this time.
K: "What's the verdict?"
S: "The verdict?"
K: "She saw us together. Obviously that threw her for a loop. What's she going to do about it?"
S: "Nothing. Or rather whatever I ask her to do. Please don't worry. We can trust Alexis."
Stefan kneels and begins to stroke Katherine's hair.
K: "I gotta go."
S: "You do?" Stefan touches her lips.
K: "I've got to get to my neurology appointment."
Stefan nods.
S: "I should be getting home."
K: "Have I complicated your life?"
S: "Yes."
K: "I wish I could say I was sorry."
S: "I'm not."
Stefan is about to kiss her, when she wheels towards the door. Stefan opens it and walks back into his office. Katherine turns at the doorway.
K: "Stefan." making a gun gesture with her hand. "Pooh. Got'cha!"

Stefan convinces Bobbie to go to Arizona to look for a new software system for GH.

Kat gets a checkup from Doc. Tony Jones.
T: "Sorry I've been behind all morning."
K: "No problem, it gave me a chance to catch up on this months magazines."
T: "So has there been any additional movement in your legs since Dorman last examined you?"
K: "Movement? No, but feeling all the time."
T: "Well that's good. That's very encouraging."
K: "Well it would be if I needed encouragement."
T: "Doesn't everyone?"
K: You know I'm past that Tony. Walking for me is no longer a matter of if. It's a simple matter of when."
Doc. Tony tries to test her legs reflexes with one those little hammer thingiemajigs.
K: "Nothing."
T: "Well I'm glad you're confidant you're going to walk again. I think that attitudes certainly going to help you, but I think you need to be realistic too. Because as far as I can see there's no medical evidence that you've started to regain any feeling in your legs."
K: "But I did feel it in my leg. Right in this area (touching her thigh) several times."
T: "And this is the leg you say you moved before?"
K: "It's the leg I did move. It's not my imagination Tony. I know what happened."
Doc. Tony looks like a Saint Bernard nodding his head, with spittle flying across the room.
T: "I hope I confirm that soon, meanwhile I'll just monitor your condition."
K: "Do you remember the first thing you said to me after I found out I was paralyzed?"
T: "Yup. Keep up your spirits because a persons state of mind has a lot to do with their recovery."
K: "Well do you believe that? Or is that just something they taught you in medical school?" (I know Bobbie spends a lot of time in the Dominican Republic getting divorces. Is that where Doc. Tony got his degree?)
T: "Well, in my experience I think the healing process is one of the great mysteries of life. But I don't fully understand it." (As he starts to gnaw on a barbecued rib)
K: "Do you think emotions play a part in it?"
T: "To some extent."
K: "How?"
T: "Well I see it everyday uh. If a person thinks they're going to get better they often do and if a person is hopeless, no matter what they're condition is sometimes they don't make it."
K: "So the mind affects the body? They work together?"
T: "But not just the mind. I mean other than good medical care I think the most significant factor in a patients recovery is uh, a kind of a spirit.. a feeling of being alive and well."
K: "Does that have a name?"
T: "Mmm, for the lack of a scientific name uh. I'd call it the power of love."
T: "I'd like to see you once a week from now on. So if there's a change in your condition we can spot it quickly."
K: "Fine I'm going to be around here a lot."
T: "Really? For what?"
K: "Public relations. Stefan Cassadine seems to think the hospital can use some extra help."
T: "Uhm that's good news I guess. Uhm I'll see you around the water cooler."
K: "You know I wouldn't be able to go back to work so soon if it wasn't for Carly. She really helped me get my strength back."
T: "Well I'll be sure to tell her what you said."
K: "How long you two been together?"
T: "Six months."
K: "You make a nice couple. I hope it works out."
T: "Thank you Katherine. I hope so too."
A nurse is at the door when Tony opens it.
A bunch of babble ensues.
As Kat is being wheeled down the hall she has a memory of the kiss at the penthouse.
Later she gets a call at home. Nurse Shaw is back! It's Doc. Tony on the phone.

NS: "Ms. Bell residence. Uh yes Dr. Jones. It's Dr. Jones."
K: "Hi Tony."
T: "Oh hi. You sound good."
K: "I feel good."
T: "Oh excellent, a couple of things here uhm. Carly had to leave town on an emergency so you're going to have a substitute physical therapist for the next few days."
K: "OK. Is Carly all right?"
T: "Uh she will be."
K: "You said there were a couple of things?"
T: "Well apparently travel is in the air. Bobbie had to go to Arizona on hospital business for Stefan, so I've got Lucas duty. Therefore we have to reschedule our appointment."
K: "No problem." (Kat's happy)

Kat's penthouse. Nurse Theresa is there.
K: "You've never used a personal shopping service? Why it's the greatest invention since the dishwasher. You just call them up, tell them your sizes. What you like and what you don't like, how much you want to spend and voila it shows up at your door for approval."
Theresa: "Wish grocery stores had them. These are not for your new job?" Holding up two fancy and sexy dresses.
K: "Why not?"
T: "I've never seen anyone dressed like that at the hospital. Unless it was an emergency like food poisoning."
The phone rings. It's Miranda.
K: "Hello."
M: "Please save me from myself."
K: "What are you doing."
M: "Wandering around aimlessly, because I don't want to go home and right now standing in front of Luke's because it's still open."
K: "You went to see Jax. Didn't you? I could see the look in your eye when Robin said that Brenda had moved out."
M: "Well I just thought he might need a shoulder to lean on. He leaned all right."
K: "Well I think maybe you could've given him a night or two to be lonely. You know you better get over here and stop being a menace in public."

While fiddling with Stefan's computer, preparing for her trip to Arizona. Bobbie stumbles upon a Katherine Bell folder.

Miranda is now at Kat's.
K: "I guess there's something to be said for believing in against all odds. I mean it seems impossible that anything more could happen between Stefan and me, but now Bobbie is going out of town."
M: "You know I know I'm not in the best mood and knowing that someone actually got paid to say that those shoes and that purse match does not help, but it seems to me that you're assuming that Stefan arranged this trip for Bobbie out of town just so the two of you could spend time together."
K: "Well I ember you being a fountain of knowledge about the Cassadine's from Mac. What do you think?"
M: "I think Stefan is a smart man and to be honest it seems beneath him to send his wife out of town to spend time with another woman. I mean what are the chances of that happening very often? Besides Bobbie's ex is your doctor, Bobbie's ex-mistress is your physical therapist, and Bobbie's brother is always badgering you."
K: "Do you think you could utter a sentence without using the B word?"
M: "Just trying to be practical."
K: "No I think you're being horrible because your attempt at rescuing a married man went sour. Now why don't you try on that little cocktail number there, that let me down hard shade of blue. I think it will make you feel better."
M: "OK as long as we can ditch the tea for a (?) glass of red wine."
K: "Absolutely." Their laughing.
M: "You know how is it that we, two of the most stunning women I know are willing to give ourselves to marginally worthy men. While Brenda who has everything wants space. I just don't get it."
Miranda comes down after putting on the blue cocktail number.
K: "Now you've done it. You've ruined it. That dress will never look that good on me."
M: "Oh stop, two glasses of wine and everything goes hazy?"
K: "I have no choice, I insist that you keep that."
M: "Katherine!"
K: "No. There is no sense in arguing with me. I am in no mood and you have been an amazingly wonderful friend and who knows we may end up double dating in some fabulous cafe in Paris or on some yacht in the Mediterranean, and I don't want to be embarrassed when you're all dressed all down like you like to do."
M: "Well does this fantasy of yours include two fabulous men?"
K: "What do you think?"
M: "Well I'm all for positive thinking but.."
K: "It works. Faith remember?"
M: "Myself I tend to believe in the divine Ooops. It rolls in quiet even when you're not paying attention. Some times when you're lying low, sometimes when you're flying high. And wham everything changes. It happened with me when I was with Jax in Australia and when you were on Spoon Island. Call it a miracle, call it a tragedy, coincidence, whatever.
But sometimes you just look down and it's staring you in the face and your whole world shifts."

Later at the penthouse. (Kat and Miranda).
M: "Maybe I should take it off before I wrinkle it anymore. You know just in case our dream dates show up."
K: "Actually my fantasies are on a much smaller scale than that now. For example what it would feel like to have the pinch of those size five’s."
M: "I'm gonna go change now, before you start reminiscing about charley horses."
K: "You know I know it's really not that funny, but it just helps to know that maybe there's a chance to feel that again someday. You'd be amazed at how simple my fantasies are now."
M: "I know."
Miranda goes upstairs never to be seen again. And Kat starts fantasizing.
Stefan and Kat are laughing as they enter the penthouse.

K: "Oh, oh, oh. You know when you offered me this job you never mentioned anything about 14 hour workdays." Taking off a shoe. "Ouch."
S: "Come over here." pulling out a chair "Right here, sit."
S: "Let me have this." As he pulls off her other shoe and begins massaging her foot.
K: "You know I'm only doing this because of you."
Stefan looks at his watch.
S: "All right times up."
K: "Where are you going?"
Stefan stands up and removes his coat and places it on the back of a chair.
S: "I have a surprise for you."
K: "What?" She slinks over to him and let's out a slight moan as they start kissing.
K: "What?"
S: "I don't have to go tonight."
K: "Stefan."
S: "Or any other night."
K: "What about uhm."
S: "That's over. We can leave tonight if you want. We can have everything and each other, or nothing but each other. It doesn't matter to me as long as I have you."
K: "Yes, yes." As they start kissing passionately again, Kat removes his shirt and the kissing intensifies.

Later after Miranda has come back downstairs.
M: "Are you sure there's nothing I can do for you before I go? You don't need any help getting to bed or anything."
K: "No. I can wake the nurse if I need to. Thank you for coming by."
M: "Well thank you for getting me off the streets. Not to mention the snazzy addition to my wardrobe."
K: "Well I'd ask you to stay over but I.."
M: "I'm sure you have a million things to do. Listen, I don't really know these people. I mean Stefan Cassadine and his wife are just abstractions to me. But you aren't, you matter to me. So I'm just going to say this, don't set yourself up to get hurt."
K: "I don't think I am."
M: "You know you should get out of the perfume business and start bottling that self confidence, now that I would shell out thirty bucks for."
K: "Don't give up. If what you think about Brenda is true, Jax will find out."
M: "I don't know about that. I think those room service meals she has been feeding him actually kill brain cells. I'm telling you the woman tells him she needs space, moves into a luxury hotel suite and when she tells him it has nothing to do with Sonny Corinthos he believes her. I mean I have no choice but to take the Scarlett O'Hara approach and now I'm off. Call me tomorrow."
K: "I will."
Miranda leaves then reenters.
M: "Hey if you can believe it I forgot my purse. Have you seen it?"
K: "If I find it, it gets searched."
M: "Hey."
There's a noise outside the door.
K: "Is someone in the hall?"
M: "I don't know. I'll find out."
Looking through the peephole she sees Brenda and Sonny outside his door.
K: "Who is it?"
M: "Ooops."

STEFAN HELPS KATHERINE TO WALK FOR THE FIRST TIME-Transcribed by Alia (Thanks Alia)
Setting: Katherine’s penthouse. Stefan comes to visit Katherine after
sending his wife out of town.

Katherine: Sorry, don’t want any. (Katherine saying to Stefan jokingly
after opening the door)
Stefan: (clearing his throat)
K: Stefan, what a surprise?
S: I hope I didn’t wake you.
K: Hardly, I’ve been up for ages. I’ve already practice my tai chi for
half an hour and done my morning weight training and I’m not complaining
but why are you here so bright and early?
S: Well, I’d heard your physical therapist was called out of town and
Nikolas is suffering through an exam with one of his tutors this morning
so I thought I’d come by and offer my services.
K: And I suppose you know that my nurse is not here as well.
S: No, although I can’t say the news distresses me.
K: I wouldn’t think it would.
S: May I come in?
K: That depends, what’s in the bag?
S: I hope you like bagels.
K: Sesame?
S: Yes, and poppy, plain, whole wheat, sourdough, multi-grain, garlic,
and something called schmear, could that be right?
K: Absolutely, a man after my own heart. Come in. I will get some
coffee.
S: Oh no, no need, I brought coffee, I didn’t know if you drank
caffeinated or not so I got both, espresso, cappuccino.
K: A man who leaves nothing to chance. You know you are funny, you are
really too funny. Well, I’ll go get some plates, unless you have that
in here too.
S: No, I forgot plates, I’ll go back.
K: Wait here. (Katherine wheels into the kitchen)
K: (reading from newspaper) It is hoped, said Stefan Cassadine, that
public relations expert Katherine Bell can work her considerable magic
to restore the tarnished image of General Hospital. Please, (handing
Stefan her plate)
S: I hope you don’t mind, I realized after I’d given the interview that
perhaps you should’ve been there to speak for yourself.
K: Mind? No. Give all the interviews you want singing my praise. I am
delighted to be working again and grateful for the opportunity. I have
to confess though, I have never worked under stranger circumstances.
S: You are referring to us.
K: Well, it’s not your typical employer-employee relationship.
S: We’ve done nothing wrong Katherine.
K: That depends on your perspective.
S: Well, as long as that’s not your perspective, I couldn’t care less
about anyone
else’s.
K: I wish it was that simple, I would like nothing more then to believe
that what’s happening between you and me was all that mattered. I feel
something with you Stefan that I’ve never felt before, unstoppable. I
look in your eyes and I know that I will walk again. I just want to
bottle that feeling and own it.
S: You can.
K: Not when other people stand to be hurt.
S: I’m, I’m trying to protect Barbara, it was never my intention to hurt
her.
K: She loves you and the only way you will not hurt her is if this
doesn’t happen.
S: Then perhaps it’s too late.
K: And what about Nikolas, he will feel that we both betrayed him.
S: I will set things straight with Nikolas.
K: I don’t think it’s going to be that easy, he has feelings for me, you
and I may know it’s just a crush, but to him it’s very real.
S: Those feelings are all apart of growing up.
K: How can you be so completely sure of yourself, of everything.
S: Well, is that the impression I’m giving? Then I must be better then
I thought. Because when I’m with you I feel as if everything else is, I
don’t know, immaterial?
K: How did you get your wife out of town?
S: Well, she’s attending a computer conference in Arizona as my representative.
K: I didn’t know she was an expert in computers.
S: She’s not, but I am, and I have something for you. (Stefan takes out
a lap top computer)
K: That’s very considerate of you , but I have my own.
S: Well, not like this one.
K: What’s so special about it?
S: Well, for one thing it has all the pertinent files that you will need
for your work at the hospital.
K: Couldn’t you just put it on a diskette?
S: Yes, I could have, but it has one other very special feature.
K: And what’s that? Your smiling face pops on the screen when you turn
it on?
S: Close, it allows us to communicate instantly with one another.
K: (Katherine is playing with the key board) Don’t you think it’s risky
for us to communicate over a modem? Anybody could just hack into our
files, I know Luke Spencer for one is going to be breathing down our
necks as soon as he sees the headline.
S: Don’t worry about him, I’ve taken the necessary precautions.
K: And what if your wife just happen to wander in and look through your
directory and find the ‘Katherine’ files.
S: She won’t, you need a special code for access.
K: You really have thought of everything, haven’t you?
S: (Stefan stops Katherine’s typing) I can’t be without you Katherine
K: What the hell are we doing?
S: You say my presence gives you hope, fuels your will, so as far as I’m
concerned, the more time we spend together the sooner you’ll walk.
K: And now we have the perfect cover, by me working for the hospital.
But we both know there is more to it than that, we are in the middle of
an affair.
S: I don’t see it that way
K: Why? Because we haven’t made love. We are emotionally bonded. You
send your wife out of town so that you can be with me, you set up this
whole secret computer communication system and you went to the bagel
shop and you bought schmears for me for God’s sake. It is definitely an
affair.
S: Alright, so what will you have me do, stay away?
K: No just be honest with me, and admit what’s happening here.
S: I have always tried to be honest with you Katherine. The fact is
most of how I live my life is covert I don’t want it to be that way with
us. So if you say this is an affair, I’ll bow to your better judgment.
K: This is doomed, don’t you see that?
S: No I don’t, and if you give me the chance I’ll prove it to you.
S: Tell me what you are doing in physical therapy.
K: Carly calls it ‘range of motion exercises’ that’s a euphemism for
torture.
S: You know she’s very inexperienced, perhaps we should get someone
else.
K: No, she’s fine. She’s very enthusiastic and I think I’ve made a lot
of progress.
S: Have you had any muscle response to manual resistance?
K: How do you know all that?
S: Well, I’ve read everything I can on rehabilitation in cases like
yours. Have you tried supporting yourself on the parallel bars yet?
K: Tried, not succeeded, I can move my arms along the bars but---
S: Can you put any weight on your feet?
K: As in stand, not even close.
S: Will you try with me?
K: Yes.
S: Push with this arm. Ready? (Stefan lifts her to the bars) Put this
arm up,
alright, got it? (he lets go and steps back) OK, go ahead.
K: I’m afraid.
S: I’m right here Katherine. Come on. (Katherine drags her feet)
That’s it, come on, (she takes a step) Alright. (they both smile) Look
at that, look at that.
S: Look at that, don’t stop now, come on. (Katherine takes a few small
steps)Yes, you can do it. (She falls and Stefan catches her, both
ecstatic)
K: Did I really do that? Did I really do it? Was it my imagination?
S: No, no, you really did it. How do you feel? Is there any pain?
K: Hurts like hell, but it was worth it, it’s unbelievable, thank you!
S: For what? You walked by yourself.
K: Oh, no no no, you are not going to get away with that, not this
time. (Stefan
carries her back to the wheel chair) You have to admit, you were
magnificent,
you willed me to walk and I am brave and powerful.
S: Yes you are, you are all those things and more. Now don’t you think
we should inform you doctors about what happened.
K: Yes, but not right away, I just want to savor this for a second, I
want to just sit here alone with you knowing that we are the only two
people that are in on this secret.
S: Well, it won’t be a secret for long because you will be walking again
before you know it. All you have to do is keep up your physical
therapy.
K: Oh, they’d have to tie me down to keep me from working out. What’s
so funny?
S: Well, no, not funny, enchanting! I’ve seen you run a gamut of
emotions, from despair to euphoria. I’m just wondering what will be
next.
K: Stick around and find out.
S: I will.
K: At least now you know what I look like standing up.
(Stefan walks away)
Stefan, did I say something wrong?
S: You were standing the first time I saw you that’s all.
K: I’m only interested in the present, today.
S: This is only the beginning, (Stefan touches her face) sweet Katherine.
K: (Katherine getting off the phone) You know when I told Miranda about what happened she was as thrilled and excited as if it had happened to
her, and in a way it sort of is, she’s reliving her own experience. You know she has turned out to be such a great friend in such a short amount
of time.
S: So, will she be able to stay at the hospital with you?
K: Yea, she said she will stay until after the doctors are done checking
me out and they can tell me everything I need to--(she drops the phone) I’m sorry. (Stefan walks over and picks it up, Katherine grabs his
hand) Stefan, I couldn’t have done this without you, you know that don’t you? (Stefan kisses her hand).

(Nikolas walks in and interrupts)

Nikolas enters the apartment. He looks at Stefan and Katherine dumbfounded for a moment. Stefan stands.
N: "I used the key you gave me because you told me the nurse wasn't going to be here.
Didn't want to bother you.."
K: "No, it's fine. I was at the bars, I let go, and I stood all by myself."
N: "Well that's great news, did you plan on trying that or, I mean tell me how you feel?"
K: "Like I ran a marathon, so I guess it really happened."
N: "Oh man, I wish I would've been here."
K: "So do I. But your uncle stopped by to bring me my new computer I'm going to be working on and he saw the whole thing."
S: "It was amazing, I wouldn't have missed it for the world. And I'm glad I could be of help, but I really must be going. If you have any more problems with the computer or the new program please let me know."
K: "I will and thank you again." She says winking.
S: "Nikolas could you accompany Ms. Bell to the hospital, she has a follow-up examination."
N: "Yeah sure. I'd be glad too."
K: "No really I don't want you wasting your free time."
N: "It's ok."
S: "Well congratulations again and Nikolas I'll see you later."
The car arrives to take them to the hospital.
K: "Oh my computer, I want it near me."

Kat meets with Dorman and pretty much sums him up in one sentence.
K: "He has the bedside manner of a surly five year old."

Katherine steals a moment away at the hospital and hooks up with Stefan via computer.
She types: 'Doctors sound upbeat, but they can't feel more up than I do. I know I've said it, but I can't say it too many times. I could have never done this without you Stefan. You are all I need."
Stefan says "Katherine" out loud. Alexis overhears.

Stefan and Alexis arrive at the Q's to talk about Dorman who eventually gets killed (TODD says: Dorman eventually gets killed by a character from the Wizard of Oz or an America song or a drug dealer. Something like that. LIZ replies: yes the Tin Man)

Monica greets them and goes to round up the rest.
Alexis: "It's a sorry state of affairs when I have to steal a moment alone away with you in the Quartermaine living room in order to ask you questions I should all ready know the answers to."
Stefan: "What are you going on about Alexis?"
A: "I'm so sorry, am I boring you? I do hate to be tedious but someone here has to play the role of reality check so I guess I'll volunteer. Random testing in the projects experimental phase is a crucial element to it's ultimate success. Now the dry runs have gone well but we are far from home free. I really shouldn't have to spell this out to you. But the point is there are kinks that need to be ironed out and the testing needs to be ongoing and it isn't. Now has there been a change of strategy that you've neglected to tell me about? Or have you simply lost interest?"
S: "There has been no change Alexis, but you're right you have become tedious. Everything is under control I am satisfied with the timetable as it stands."
Katherine wheels in.
S: "Katherine, your eyes are shining. You look radiant."
K: "Call me excited. I guess it's just applying my brain and skills again."
The Q's come in and they all jabber about Dr. Dorman.
In the Q's foyer after the meeting.
Alexis: "Aren't you coming to the hospital?" To Stefan.
Stefan: "In a bit. I don't want to waste any of the nice momentum Ms. Bell has created for us. I'd like to discuss ways to take advantage of our position, if you have time?"
Kat: "Sure."
A: "Well that's fine. However I do need some time with you as well, regarding that matter we were discussing. Or would you prefer that I handle it on my own?"
S: "Do you feel up to the task?"
A: "I do."
S: "Then have at it."
A: "No problem."
Alexis leaves.

Kat: "I don't think she's very pleased with you."
Stefan: "Forget about Alexis. Let's talk about you. How does it feel to be a champion?"
K: "Oh come on."
S: "Oh you are. You made quite a few people smile in there today and you deserve a reward. I'm going to see to it that you get one."
K: "What are you up to?"
S: "If you could do anything right now, what would you choose? Don't, don't think about it just answer."
K: "Drive in a fast convertible, my hair blowing. Rock n Roll blasting on the radio, the sun beating down. Just a thought."
S: "I said don't think."
K: "What?"
S: "You're coming with me."

Stefan and Katherine are parked by the side of the road in a red convertible.
K: "This is so incredible."
S: "Now what was the name of that musical group we were listening to?"
K: "Tommy James and the Shondelles."
S: "Oh yeah."
K: "Crystal Blue Persuasion. God I love that song. This has been the most perfect afternoon."
S: "It's not over yet and it's one of many more, I hope. You look so beautiful with your hair like that."
K: "(Laughs) All blown to hell and back?"
S: "Yes, you look like some exotic untamed feline. (Stefan laughs) I'm sorry. I'm spouting inanities like a lovesick schoolboy."
K: "Is that how you feel?"
S: "Well you know I really don't have any basis for comparison. Having emerged fully grown and responsible from the womb of a madwoman."
They both laugh.
S: "But I accepted my fate and that's what I've been ever since. Until now. Did you see the look on Alexis' face? You're a bad influence on me Katherine."
K: "Is that a complaint?"
S: "No. I think it's a feeble attempt to say thank you."
K: "No. I should be thanking you. Bringing me here and giving me a taste of freedom. You know I don't think I realized how much I missed it. How much I needed it. Ever since the accident I have turned myself inside out, coming up with excuses not to go outside. See the sun, the trees, people going about their lives. It all reminded me of what I couldn't do. But driving down this highway with you, God knows going how many miles an hour made me feel like I could do anything."
S: "You can you know."
K: "I'm beginning to believe that. You're really amazing. Do you always get what you want?"
S: "No."
Kat looks at him curiously.
S: "Cold? I'll put the top up."
K: "No, don't you dare."
S: "Then here." Stefan takes off his coat and places it around Katherine.
K: "You know when I was sixteen I went swimming in the ocean this time of year. Someone had dared me. The water was like liquid ice, but I didn't care. I love the water."
S: "I wish I had known you then."
K: "Maybe you did. Somehow I feel like you always have."
Stefan leans over his stick shift and they kiss. Stefan leans back and caresses her face then kisses her again. They kiss a long time. Stefan leans back.
S: "Mmm mmmm mmmmmm.....You know we've never been alone before."
K: "We've been alone."
S: "Yes, with an entire hospital outside the door. Or your friends, nurse. Never like this, never where I could touch you this way. Not thinking who might walk in at any moment."
K: "Not thinking. That's a good thing remember?"
S: "I love your smile." They kiss again.
K: "Could you do me a favor?"
S: "What?"
K: "We both know this isn't real."
S: "Why not?"
K: "Because reality comes back on a plane from Arizona next week. So until then, can I just pretend."
Stefan is leaning his head on Katherine's shoulder.
K: "Tell me something I don't know about you. I don't know, something about your childhood."
S: "I told you they weren't allowed in my family."
K: "So they sent you off to kindergarten in black?"
S: "Oh no, they rarely sent me anywhere. Well, to University eventually. But I lived most of my life on an island. I hardly left."
K: "Why an island? They could've lived anywhere they wanted in the world."
S: "Well having fled Russia on the eve of the revolution. The Cassadines were subject to what might politely be called a siege mentality. Or less politely paranoia. They wanted to be able to see their enemies coming."
K: "Did they ever come?"
S: "No. Not for sixty years and not the ones we expected. There was a bench on a bluff overlooking the ocean. Where I used to sit for hours watching the water."
K: "What were you looking for?"
S: "I don't know, not enemies. But something. I was like someone lost at sea looking for any sign of land and I told myself that one day I would come to that shore whatever it was, wherever it was and my life would change forever."
K: "Has it?"
Stefan looks at her but does not answer.
Kat is now in Stefan's arms.
K: "Maybe for the first time in my life I don't want anything to change."
S: "I want almost everything in my life to change."
K: "What would happen if we just started this car and drove away?...Nikolas."
S: "Yes."
K: "We can go back now, I'm ready."
S: "Katherine we will be alone again together soon. I promise you that."
Stefan kisses her again and they drive away.
