Stefan and Katherine Transcripts

Uh Oh. Stefan has followed Laura down to the dock at Wyndemere.
S: "You look surprised. Did you expect me to stay at the house and comfort my wife?"
L: "Hardly."
S: "You know Barbara has a tendency to overstate the obvious. But she’s right. Your apologies are repetitious and ineffective."
L: "I was protecting my mother."
S: "Oh yes, and she’s safe now and having lucid moments. But the price was very high Lasha. A debt is owed. One of many."
L: "What do you want?"
S: "The truth. They say it sets you free."

Stefan walks down the stairs to face Laura.

S: "All these years I’ve kept silent for your sake. But now it’s clear you hate us. And my silence is finished. You call me a monster. But no monster would ever do what you did to your son. He grieved for you, he wept at your grave. Real tears, unlike yours. You told Nikolas you loved him, made him believe and then threw him away as if he were nothing! The lies you told me, the false kiss goodbye. Those things I could overlook. But you hurt your son knowingly, deliberately and for that so help me God, I will make you pay!"
L: "I am paying. He rejected me, he told me that I was dead to him. That’s burned in my memory. I’ll carry it with me for the rest of my life. What more could you possibly want?"
S: "I think you know."
L: "You can’t. There’s no need. All right, if my mother recovers.."
S: "You think I care what happens to your mother?"
L: "If she recovers, I promise you she will not press charges. No matter what she remembers."
S: "Doesn’t matter what she remembers. I can take the one thing you ever valued. I can make you lose your love forever."
L: "No. Please, please."
S: "Please. Such a pretty word, but so useless. But I loved you once, and I’ll give you this. I won’t speak yet and I’ll warn you before I do."
L: "Thank you."
S: "Oh, don’t mistake it for kindness. I can tell the truth whenever I need to. Until then, remember your happiness comes at my mercy."

Laura is left terrified and crying on the dock as Stefan ascends the stairs.

Miranda is visiting Katherine in her hospital room:
M: "So who was your visitor? Let me guess, Mrs. Cassadine?"
K: "I told her Stefan Cassadine has been very kind to me."
M: "And…?"
K: "And that’s really all I told her. I mean I don’t have anything going with Stefan Cassadine and I never will."
M: "Well, I wish I could help."
K: "You can. Go after Jax, strike a blow for all the women who are left out there in the cold." Miranda laughs.
M: "First thing tomorrow."
K: "Good. Do it for the both of us."

Nikolas visits Kat, talking about Lesley:
K: "Well she must have been so happy to finally get to meet you."
N: "Yea, but the Spencer’s probably won’t ever let me see her again."
K: "Well maybe they will if that’s what she wants. What about your other grandmother?"
N: "What about her?"
K: "Do you ever see her?"
N: "No. Not if I have to. She’s really not that nice of a person. Actually she tried to kill Lesley."
K: "I’ve heard stories about Helena."
(Here’s a story of a lovely lady, who was bringing up three very lovely…Oooops sorry)
N: "Yea, she used to summon her and lecture me, in Russian about the glory and burden about growing up to be head of the family. And when I was seven my uncle staged a coup and stripped her of her power and since then I’ve never really had to take her seriously."
K: "Why? No, never mind. I don’t really want to know. Let’s go back to more pleasant subjects like how excited you were when you told me you first met your grandma Lesley."
N: "My grandma? Well I’ve never had to call anyone that before. You know I probably could of I mean if I had known her from the time I was little, but I never got the chance to know her, or my mother. It just doesn’t seem right, you know."
K: "That’s because it was wrong. There’s a whole family out there that you belong to that lot’s of people on both sides have tried to keep you from. Are still trying to. When you are perfectly capable of deciding who should and shouldn’t be involved in your life."
N: "You’re the only one who thinks that. You know."
K: "Your uncle Stefan seems like a reasonable man. Can’t you bring him around?
N: "It’s too late. Laura lied to us all and made us think she was dead. How can you ever get over that? Or that scene on the island when Luke threatened him with a gun and then shot you and left you there?"
K: "Nikolas. I never said who shot me."
N: "I know you don’t remember. But it had to be him. And my uncle and Alexis are going to prove it at the hearing."
K: "What hearing?"
N: "At the DAs office. They’re going to nail Luke Spencer’s back to the wall. Then it will all be legal."
K: "Is that what you want."
N: "Yea, that’s what I want."
K: "The only problem is that nailing Luke Spencer to the wall doesn’t make it any easier for you to have a relationship with your grandmother."
N: "I haven’t had one my whole life."
K: "But mow you’ve met her."
N: "You have to keep your priorities Katherine. I get too emotional sometimes about a lot of things, and that’s the part of me that’s like my mother. But I trust my uncle and I know he’ll do the right thing."
Katherine contemplates.

DAs office:
Dara: "Lesley Webber has been under your care for several months now Dr. Hardy. How would you describe her condition."
Tom Hardy: "Well when we found her Dr. Webber was in a near catatonic state. Induced by some powerful drugs that had been given to her over the course of many, many years. She has lost her memory, ability to communicate, relate to people or environment. I mean other than a few isolated instances. She’s lost her cognitive powers." Luke storms out of his chair to get some water.
Dara: "Well how is she now?"
Tom: "Oh there’s been some improvement, in her lucid moments. A little more frequent, last a little longer but I can’t say that she’s ever going to be herself again. At this point she can’t remember or recall her years under Mr. Cassadine’s care."
D: "Now how did she happen to become involved in this case?"
T: "What was done to Dr. Webber was medically, ethically wrong. Mr. Cassadine’s care deprived her of family, friends, profession, years of her life."
D: "We are here to get to the facts Dr. Hardy not a sermon. But thank you for your time. Moving along. I have an affidavit here from Katherine Bell saying that she has no memory of who shot her. And since there were no witnesses to this incident we will have to pull whatever information we have, and see where that leads. Mrs. Cassadine you were on the island when Katherine Bell was shot."
Bobbie: "Yes."
Dara: "Were you also present when your brother held your husband at gunpoint and threatened to kill him?"
B: "Yes. It was one of the worst moments of my life seeing Luke point that gun at Stefan."
D: "It says here you actually put yourself between the two men in order to protect your husband."
B: "Yes that’s right."
D: "Did you believe even for a moment that your brother might kill the both of you?"
B: "No. No I didn’t."
D: "Well do you think your brother meant to shoot your husband or just to frighten him? Mrs. Cassadine?"
B: "Maybe it was only an act. But at the time it seemed very real to all of us. And the tension wasn’t broken until Lucky arrived and convinced his father to give him the gun."
D: "Did you feel that your life was in danger Mr. Cassadine?"
S: "Well if a man trespasses on my property and holds me at gunpoint. Yes I’d be apt to feel that way."
D: "Well what happened after Mr. Spencer relinquished the weapon?"
S: "Lucky threw the gun down on the rocks and then the two of them left. Barbara went on ahead to the house to check on her son Lucas, and I started after her."
D: "Did you make it back to the house?"
S: "No.. That’s when I heard the shot (Stefan is flashing back to the shooting while speaking) I ran back and discovered a woman lying on the ground unconscious. I only learned later who it was."
D: "Well did you see Luke Spencer or anyone else around?"
S: "No. But I was so concerned with Ms. Bell. I didn't really check."
D: "Do you have any idea why Luke Spencer would shoot Katherine Bell?"
S: "None."
D: "If Luke Spencer did pull the trigger, why do you suppose he would implicate himself by leaving the murder weapon behind?"
S: "I couldn't speculate on Mr. Spencers motives for anything."
D: "Fine."
Dara to Luke.
D: "Would you like to tell us what happened?"
L: "I'd love to. Except uh, I have a small problem. I wasn't there."

Nikolas wheels Katherine into the room.
K: "Well I was there and I have a few things I'd like to say about it."
D: "I didn't realize you'd been released from the hospital."
(The above line wasn't on tape.)
K: "I haven't."
Tom: "Well Ms. Bell, take my place by all means."
K: "Thank you. Thank you Nikolas. It's a special day trip."
D: "Well we heard a summary of your affidavit."
K: "Now you can hear it directly. There are a few points that I'd like to clarify. And I have one question."
D: "What is it?"
K: "What happens if I remember the person who shot me?"
D: "Do you remember who shot you Ms. Bell?"
K: "No. Unfortunately I don't. Not yet. I want to know if there's a time limit? I know if the memory comes to me tomorrow lets say, it won't be a problem legally, but what if it's six months, or a year or even five years from now?"
D: "Well we'd probably still have a case. Um, there's a five year statute of limitations on attempted murder."
K: "Is that what the charge would be?"
D: "It could be depending on the circumstances of the case and your memory."
Justus: "Well if Ms. Bell has no more questions or comments. I would like to move that the charges against my client Luke Spencer be dropped."
D: "You are jumping the gun Mr. Ward."
J: "No pun intended I'm sure Ms. Jensen. We have been sitting here very patiently listening to these proceedings. My client has been very cooperative since his arrest, but the time has come Ms. Jensen to either move forward with this or drop it. No new evidence has come to light. There is no proof that Mr. Spencer returned to the island. No one saw him after he left with his son. Any motive he may have had for killing Mr. Cassadine to avenge his wife's death was certainly undermined by her appearance alive. And that certainly, uh supports Mr. Spencer's claim that the entire episode on the island was a staged event. No matter how ill advised. He certainly never intended for anyone to get hurt."
D: "Well thank you for your informative summary Mr. Ward. However there is still a good deal of circumstantial evidence against Mr. Spencer."
J:" Enough to take to a Grand Jury and get an indictment?"
D: "No. Without a positive ID and more concrete evidence I have no choice but to drop the charges against Mr. Spencer."
K: "I'd like to say one more thing."
D: "Of course."
K: "Even though I don't remember exactly what happened to me. I have always known that it's possible I'm sitting in this chair for a very stupid reason. Because of some ancient feud between two families. And it's time it stopped, and I think that I have earned the right to say that. And if I can't remember what happened to me. I think everybody else should try to forget."
D: "Well I applaud the sentiment Ms. Bell but um , Mr. Cassadine still has the right to press charges against Mr. Spencer for threatening his life and trespassing."
S: "Well you know, Ms. Bell's presence here today came as a surprise. As does the fact that she's anticipated the Cassadine family position. We're willing to offer a deal."
J: "We're willing to listen."
S: "I won't press charges against Mr. Spencer under the following conditions. That no member of the Spencer family ever trespasses on Cassadine property again, nor publicly smears the Cassadine name. If either of these conditions are violated we will seek to reopen this case."
L: "Does that mean we can leave this town?"
D: "Actually no. I'd like to add a condition to the ones mentioned um, I'd like you to stick around for awhile until you get clearance from this office. Other members of your family are free to come and go of course."
L: "So what you're saying is the charges are dropped but I'm still a suspect?"
D: "My intention is to give Ms. Bell a chance to heal before you disappear."
J: "Luke. I think it's a good deal. For awhile."
L: "(Sighs) Whatever."
D: "Thank you all for coming this morning, and a special thanks to you Ms. Bell."
K: "Nikolas." Nikolas wheels Katherine into the hall.
N: "I can't believe my uncle went along with you like that. He was all set to go after Luke."
K: "I can be very persuasive."
N: "Yea, I know. Hold on one second, I'll be right back."

As the participants leave Luke approaches Katherine.
L: "Thank you Katherine."
K: "For what?"
L: "Remaining neutral?" (Sarcastically)

Nikolas approaches Stefan and Bobbie (Who is holding Stefan's hands thinking he did her a big favor.)
N: "I'm going to take Katherine back to the hospital in the private ambulance."
S: "All right. Before you do I'd like to have a private word with her. Excuse me."
(Somehow Luke got home at warp speed and tells Laura that Stefan's got something up his sleeve. And that he just can't figure out what it is.)
S: "It's uh, it's wonderful to see you outside of the hospital."
K: "It was a little scary at first, you know my first time out. But I had to come here, I had to make sure the right thing happened."
S: "I appreciate what didn't happen."
K: "I'm sure that's true. But now it's over and you can go back to your wife and family. And hopefully stop wasting precious time feuding with the Spencers. For Nikolas' sake if not for your own."

Kat returns to GH.

Stefan and Bobbie have a fight about the family feud, Stefan tells Bobbie he's sorry
she's caught in the middle.

S: "I suppose that's part of being my wife. Are you sorry yet?"
B: "Oh Stefan (She kisses him) Never."
Stefan looks disappointed.

Later Stefan shows up on Laura's doorstep.
L: "Luke's not here."
S: "I'm aware of that. I thought you'd prefer this discussion without him."
Foster starts growling and barking at Stefan.
S: "Call off the animal." Laura hesitates.
S: "Call him off." (Before I kill him. Stefan's eyes say)
L: "Easy Foster."
Stefan enters the home.
L: "My mothers here and she's not ready to see you yet."
S: "Where is she?"
L: "She's upstairs resting. Please don't disturb her."
S: "It's a pity. I would have liked to have said hello and goodbye."
L: "I don't need to hear another threat. I heard the first one. And I promised you I won't press charges no matter what my mother remembers. So please just leave her alone."
S: "Lesley isn't the issue here. Whether she lives or dies, what she remembers, is no concern of mine. Nikolas is the one in danger and that I won't allow."
L: "Nikolas? Why, what happened? Is he hurt?"
S: "What do you think? What constitutes pain for you? Physically your son is fine. (I can hear you ladies saying oh yeah) Emotionally he lives in misery and self recrimination. The curious legacy of your being alive after all."
L: "Are you saying that he blames himself for everything that happened. That's absurd."
S: "How else can he make sense of it all? I doubt you treat that beast as you did your own child. First you're the loving mother desperate for his acceptance. Then you're the dead mother headed for beatification. Then suddenly you, you dance back into his life with your own dead mother in tow. And all of these machinations you tell the boy are due to his family. That's where the blame should lie, on his family. And by extension on himself."
L: "No. I would never imply anything like that. I love Nikolas. You know that."
S: "Oh yea, I know you do. You love him in your own way, the way that poisons and finally deadens, like a snake bite that has to lanced, extracted and spat away. Well Nikolas is too weakened to do that now, so I will do it for him. He won't be exposed any further, I will protect him!"
L: "Are you taking him away?"
S: "Certainly not. We have established a home here. Nikolas has family he can count on. Barbara. Lucas, who looks up to him. What stability he has is right here. It's the venom that needs to be removed. That's why you and your mother will be making a change."
L:"I think I know what you want. You don't want Nikolas to come to the house anymore and you don't want him to see his grandmother. And, and believe me if I could I would, just to keep the peace just for a while."
S: "Just to keep me quiet."
L: "I can't control Nikolas. Anymore than you can."
S: "Well clearly you've missed my point or avoided it altogether. I don't need to control Nikolas to protect him. I can control you. I'm sending you away Lasha, you and your mother."
L: "You can't do that."
S: "Oh certainly I can. Unless you want me to tell Luke, what you and I both know.
Those are your choices. Either you leave or I tell him the truth. You were my brothers wife but Nikolas is my son."
L: "Are you sure?"
S: "Does it make a difference whether I actually fathered Nikolas or not? Isn't the point that I could have? I suspect Luke will see it that way. I doubt he'll ask for a blood test. Why so shocked? We've both known all along that the possibility was there. Or did you think that leaving it unspoken between us somehow nullified the fact? Or perhaps it slipped your mind altogether."
L: "No I remember everything. We made love."
S: "I thought so at the time. But now I realize I made love. You what, Took comfort? Perhaps made an investment in me? Please, I brought you more than blueberries after all. I brought you what taste you had of freedom, perhaps the satisfaction of betraying the husband you despised?"
L: "That's a disgusting thing to say."
S: "Are you claiming now that you loved me? You wouldn't say so at the time. Oh I put it down to loyalty to your other husband the dead one. Remarkable isn't it, so many resurrections in such a short life"
L: "You never told me you loved me either."
S: "Because I loved you beyond words."
Laura groans.
S: "Beyond my pride. Beyond the loyalty that I was raised to believe was everything. Loyalty to my name. I had plans for us Lasha. Plans I never dared speak. I would take you away, find another name, another life, a life we would share. And then you learned you were pregnant. I saw the joy in your eyes and I, forgive me but I prayed that child was mine."
L: "So did I."
S: "What? What do you hope to gain by making me believe that now?"
L: "Nothing. Stavros was a very cruel man. I hoped that my child would be more like you. You believe that he is yours don't you?"
S: "Well that's immaterial. Because I've raised Nikolas as my own. I've loved him as my own."
L: "Well you could have claimed him after Stavros died. I'm sure Helena..."
S: "Helena would have stripped him of his birthright! That boy will take his rightful position as head of this family! He deserves that."
L: "No he deserves a decent life."
S: "Which is precisely why I will continue to protect him from you. From being drawn in by sentiment for his unknown grandmother and used again."
L: "No. You are not protecting him. You are protecting yourself."
S: "You and Lesley will leave the country by the end of the week. If you don't your true love will know the last of your lies."
Stefan slams the door on the way out.

Stefan enters the courtroom (Dorman lawsuit) and kisses Alexis on the cheek.
A: "Thanks for coming. We're going to appeal of course."
S: "Mm"
A: "You didn't even hear about the verdict did you? We lost."
S: "Ach. I'm sure it's only temporary."
A: "I know."
S: "Meanwhile I wanted you to be the first to know, the problem of the Spencers has been eliminated."
Stefan and Bobbie talk about stuff.

Luke is holding Laura and is way off base.
L: "I think Stefan's already lobbed his heavy artillery our way. I don't think he's got any warheads left in his arsenal." (Interesting choice of words as Laura flashes back to her and Stefan making love as Luke says this.)

Carly Roberts enters Kat's hospital room. (That's a damn long day or two Doc. Tony was talkin' about.)
K: "Nice to meet you. I've heard a lot about you. From Dr. Jones. Good things, really. We were supposed to meet before, once before."
C: "I know. I apologize about that."
K: "No it's fine really I am a moveable feast. Well I'm not quite so moveable anymore, but Tony says that you are just the person to fix that."
C: "Actually you are."
K: "You're not one of those drill sergeant types are you?"
C: "That's not a bad way to get results. But it's a really good way to get fired. um I brought you a home rehabilitation book, and it's divided into sections here you see?"
(Doc. Tony walked in so I cut him out. The scene continues later without him)

Stefan spies Nikolas talking to Lucky on the Wyndemere dock.
S: "Was that Lucky Spencer?"
N: "Yeah."
S: "So the agreement they made at the hearing lasted less than what? twenty four hours? I'm sure Ms. Jensen will be interested to hear that."
N: "No. I don't want this reported. He came to see me."
S: "I didn't think the two of you were friendly."
N: "We're not friendly. He's a pompous brat who's been brainwashed by his parents."
S: "Sad."
N: "And you're going to help me prove it." (Nikky's getting pompous here)
S: "(Something) beat him. Why would you even try?"
N: "They're still saying you kept my grandmother drugged."
S: "Well what of it? A few months ago they were saying I killed Laura. They've simply found another way of crying wolf. You half believed them then Nikolas you aren't making the same mistake again so soon are you?"
N: "No."
S: "You came to me I told you I did everything possible for that woman."
N: "And I believe you."
Stefan doesn't buy it and turns away.
S: "Don't you see Nikolas, they have to account for their despicable behavior somehow. I mean why throw the whole town into mourning over Laura? Because the evil Stefan Cassadine drugged the poor creature that was her mother. "
Stefan walks back to Nikolas and pokes his finger in his chest.
S: "You must know by now Luke Spencer will say anything to blacken my name. As will that boy he sent to you just now. They want you to doubt me. They want you to betray me."
N: "I know. They have to be stopped. What they've done to us already is outrageous. They slander your name daily for everyone to hear. I won't permit it any longer."
S: "Stop Luke Spencers tongue?"
N: "Yea."
S: "It's been tried."
N: "But I know how."
S: "Well don't keep me in suspense."
N: "All right. I want you to get the medical records for my grandmother dating back to when you first took care of her."
S: "Well how would I do that?" (humoring him)
N: "Well you had a procession of experts to see her. They each must have a file on her from then. I'll take their names, their notes, their x-rays, their conclusions and throw them all in Lucky Spencers lap. Dr. Hardy will have to keep a file at the hospital and everyone who sees it will know that they were lying and that you never harmed my grandmother."
Stefan's eyes remind me of that Christmas song 'as visions of forgeries danced through his head'. or somethin' like that.
S: "All right. I'll make my best efforts."
N: "Thank you."
Nikolas heads up the staircase looking back with suspicion. (So much for 'I believe you'.)

Kat at GH:
Kat: "Could you maybe help me in my wheelchair?"
Carly: "Oh of course yea. So where we headed?"
K: "Nowhere. Just to the window. There's a tree I'm keeping track of maybe today there will be a leaf that can wave goodbye." (She's lonely while Stefan is busy being villainous.)

Stefan phones Laura:
L: "Hello."
S: "Why are you still here?" (She's eating Kat time, but it's pertinent to the story)
L: "You can't call me here."
S: "I can and will continue to call until the answer I get is that you and your mother have left town and will never be back. Now did you know your two sons were conferring this morning on how best to help Lesley recover?"
L: "Lucky was with Nikolas?"
S: "Oh don't be encouraged. Nikolas will never see any of you ever again."
L: "You are so twisted and bitter."
S: "Have you told Luke that you're leaving yet? Well fine, I'll be over with some news of my own to tell him."
L: "No. Stefan please."
S: "Do you think he'll want blood tests Lasha? I doubt he'll care which Cassadine fathered Nikolas. Only how many of us had you."
L: "Stop it. I'll leave with my mother but I'm not telling Luke it's forever. I won't do that to him."
S: "I don't care what you tell him. Just as long as it is forever!"

Katherine is in her wheelchair looking out the hospital room window when the door opens.
K: "I won't be having breakfast today I'm saying goodbye."

As she turns she sees it's Stefan.
S: "Yes, I know. Are you alright?"
K: "As alright as I can be."
S: "Your trip to the DA's office yesterday, didn't tire you out?"
K:" No. As a matter of fact it energized me. I accomplished exactly what I intended to."
S: "Which was to clear Luke Spencer?"
K: "Which was to say as much truth as necessary, to make sure of the outcome I wanted."
S: " Did you believe his story? That he was only pretending to threaten me when he came to Wyndemere with a loaded gun?"
K: " What difference does it make if I believe it or not."
S: " Well none I suppose. I've never seen this side of you before."
K: " Outside of here we are very different people. In here you were my kindly, compassionate night visitor, sort of my private guardian angel. But out there you're Stefan Cassadine."
S: "But what about you? Who is Katherine Bell in the real world?"
K: " I can tell you who I'm not. I am not some lost hopeless soul who needs to be rescued. Or some pathetic victim who can be manipulated and pushed around. I don't like people who treat me that way!"
S: "I've never thought of you as either hopeless or a victim. I can't believe you don't know that."
K: "All I know about you is what you chose to allow. And those choices were highly selective."
S: "You didn't want me to tell you who I really was. And now you're angry at me because of it."
K: "No. I wanted to know you. I just didn't want to know your name. And you cannot pretend that you didn't know the difference."
Stefan lets out a heavy sigh as he walks around her.
S: "So. you're convinced my only motivation was to manipulate you. And now you'd like to turn the tables and control me instead."
K: "Does one person always have to control another in your world?"
S: "That's a loaded question."
K: "Tell me the truth. You expected Luke to take the rap yesterday, didn't you?"
S: "There was no evidence against Luke to take him to trial. So there was no real reason for you to rush in and save him. I believe what you were doing was protecting me."
K: "That's not what I was doing."
S: "No?"
K: "No."
S: "Then why didn’t you tell the whole truth Katherine? Why didn't you tell them all that I'm the one who put you in that wheelchair?"
S: "You spoke about wanting to end the war between the Spencers and the Cassadines. Do you believe there's any real possibility of that?"
K: "Nikolas is the reason. I told you that. Are you aware of the toll that this blood feud has taken on him? He is just a kid. And he should be allowed to be a kid, and not bear the weight of these fights that have nothing to do with him. I am not going to hurt him anymore by telling him that you are the one that shot me. He would be devastated."
S: "So you did this all for Nikolas. Only for Nikolas?"
K: "What do you want me to say? That I did it all for you? That you shot me, and lied to me, and played games with my head but none of that matters? I'm glad I'm leaving GH today, so that I don't have to see you again. Not here, or at my home or anyplace. Your wife must have a hard time understanding why these little visits of yours have continued. That is if she knows. Frankly so do I."
S: "Of course I'll honor your wishes. If you really don't want to see me again."
K: "If? I couldn't make it more clear if I took out a gun to shoot you with."
S: "Point taken. But Katherine, despite my mistakes, of not telling you who I was, not telling you what I'd done. I believed I was taking my cues from you. And that when you were despairing, you seemed to take comfort from my presence."
K: "Boy, you really could be some kind of PR man. You're a genuine spin doctor. Why can't you just admit that you were here to keep tabs on the progress of my memory? And that your mistakes were actually just calculated lies?"
S: "Because that's not true! It was in my best interest to stay away from you, but I couldn't. I couldn't. You don't believe a word I'm saying to you, do you?"
Stefan walks over to Katherine.
S: "I don't know why I came here. I don't know why I keep coming back. I only know I do."
Carly who is spying for Luke, opens the door and sees Stefan caressing Katherine's cheek. (Doesn't anyone on this show have peripheral vision?)
Carly closes the door after having the big discovery eyes take.
K: "Please go now."
Stefan starts to leave.
K: "Stefan wait."
Katherine reaches out with the crystal tree in her hand.
K: "This is yours."
S: "No, it belongs to you."
K: "I don't want it anymore. It means nothing to me."
Stefan nods.
S: "Well you simply throw it away."
He leaves, and outside the door looks saddened.

Katherine is sleeping in her hospital bed and has a dream. (TPTB seem to be milking this set.)
Stefan walks in and they smile at one another.
S: "You're going home today?"
K: "Yes."
S: "I'll never forget that my freedom is your gift."
K: "It was the right thing to do. Don't ask me how I know that."
Stefan walks over to her bed.
S: "I'd like to repay you in kind. Katherine the nerve damage is healed."
K: "Really?"
S: "Yes. I asked Dr. Jones if I could be the one to tell you."
Stefan pulls back the blankets.
S: "Take my hand."
K: "I can't."
S: "Yes you can. I won't let you fall."
Stefan takes her hand and puts his arm around her to help her out of bed.
Katherine stands, all the while staring into Stefan's eyes.
K: "Don't let go."
Stefan takes a couple steps back, while holding her hands.
S: "Come to me."
Katherine takes tentative steps towards him.
They nearly meet in a kiss, when Katherine wakes up.

Stefan's cell phone rings.
S: "Yes."
L: "It's Laura can you talk?"
S: "I have nothing more to say to you. My terms remain non-negotiable. If you're not out
of Port Charles with Lesley by tomorrow morning, I will go to Luke and tell him everything."
L: "It's settled we're all leaving today."
S: "Well, you have such an honest face Lasha. Why would a man ever doubt you. We have nothing more to say to one another."
L: "Yes, there is one more thing. I need to see you right away."

Kat's with Carly.

C: "I hope you don't mind if I'm being a nervous Nelly. So did you have time between visitors to say goodbye to the staff? Or.."
K: "I think I have everybody covered and I didn't have all that many visitors."
C: "Anyone especially interesting?"
K: "No. None." Katherine looks away.
C: "Katherine. Did I say something that bothered you?"
K: "No. I was just thinking about my apartment. I haven't been there since before Christmas. I didn't have any idea the day I left I. Well everything’s changed so much."
C: "I'm sure you can't wait to get home and be around your own space and your own things."
K: "Not really no, I'm not that attached to anything there. I can be completely alone there."
Carly leaves. Katherine fingers the crystal tree, looking devastated.

Katherine nearly puts the crystal tree in the wastebasket but changes her mind. There's a knock at the door...it is Lucky. (Hey somebody actually knocks.)
K: "Come in. Lucky, what a surprise."
L: "Is this a bad time?"
K: "No. I'm just waiting here to be released. Come on in. What can I do for you?"
L: "Well I uh, wanted to see how you were doin'. Oh I wanted to thank you for what you said at the DA's office."
K: "All I said was I didn't remember who shot me."
L: "Well you didn't have to come and you did. You know I mean you could've let Dara Jensen just make up her own mind."
K: "I think the decision probably would be the same. What's really on your mind?"
L: "There's something I need to tell you about that night. See if it weren't for me, you wouldn't be here."

Stefan arrives in the park. He turns and sees Laura, whose eyes are filled with hatred.
S: "You have something to tell me?"
L: "Yes. My mother and I will be leaving for Switzerland today. And it may interest you to know that Luke will be going with me."
S: "Really? And what lie did you concoct out of your vast repertoire to convince him to do that?"
L: "What I say to my husband is none of your business."
S: "Why did you ask me to meet you here?"
L: "Because I want you to know that I will never, ever forgive you for what you've done to me."

Kat's room:
K: "You're not the first person who's said that to me. So I'm going to tell you what I told the first person. This was nobody’s fault. I went there of my own free will, and it was just plain out rotten luck."
L: "You don't understand. You see that night out on the island I did something I wasn't supposed to."
K: "What do you mean?"
L: "The whole thing was a setup. OK, my dad pretended to be all crazed and threaten Stefan to make him believe that my mom was really dead. I mean I was supposed to show up just in time to keep him from shooting Stefan. Take the gun and make him leave, instead I improvised and threw the gun into the ravine."
K: "What does this have to do with what happened to me?"
L: "If, if I'd followed the, the plan the way we laid it out, Stefan could have never retrieved the gun and shot you with it."
K: "Nobody knows who shot me. And if you've come here to convince me that it was Stefan, you're really wasting your time."
As Lucky rambles on Kat stashes the crystal tree in her purse.
L: "Who else could it have been? Who else would've had the motive to crawl down a ravine and get the gun? Who else would've even known it's there?"
K: "You know Lucky we really don't need to rehash this ok? The issues have been decided and your father is not going to be charged."
L: "Well that's only because there's not enough evidence against him. Nobody’s saying he didn't do it."
K: "It really doesn't matter any more."
L: "Well it does to me. Listen, I need you to know that my dad didn't shoot you. I know you think I'm just saying that because I'm his son. But I swear on my sisters life it's the truth. Once I got there and I took the gun and threw it away my dad did not leave my sight once. I don't care if Stefan Cassadine says anything different he's lying. They hate us and they'll do anything to hurt us."
Nikolas enters.
N: "Where as the Spencers never do anything wrong and wouldn't hurt a flea."

Stefan and Laura:
S: "You'll never forgive me? Well what is that some kind of a curse? A pox upon my house? You actually think that after everything you've done, I care if you forgive me or not?
L: "I was really wrong about you. You are worse than Stavros and Helena put together."
S: "Ohh, but when it comes to deceit I stand humbled before the master. You're performance the night you died ohh that was remarkable. I particularly liked the sweet kiss on the lips before you walked into the exploding building."
L: "That kiss was no performance. You left me no choice. I had to protect my mother."
S: "I suppose next you'll tell me you had no choice in conceiving Nikolas either?"
L: "That may have been my choice. But getting involved with you was the biggest mistake of my life. Obviously I'll be paying for that forever."
S: "Oh that won't be long enough for what you've done. But I am consoled by the fact that after tonight, you'll be too far away to cause either Nikolas or myself any more trouble."
L: "I want to see him before I go."
S: "You can't be serious."
L: "Please allow it! For him! For him! if not for me. It was hard enough on him having me disappear without knowing why."
S: "That is not at my door! The answer is no!"
L: "Promise me you won't tell him the truth."
S: "Truth? The truth about what?"
L: "God, I hate you."
S: "Say it Lasha! I want to hear you say the words!"
L: "That you're his father!"
S:" I owe you nothing. I promise nothing."
L: "But if you were going to tell him, you would have told him by now."
S: "Circumstances change."
L: "But you wouldn't."
S: "Whether I do or not is of no concern to you."
L: "I am warning you Stefan!"
Stefan moves to within inches of her face.
S: "Why don't you send me a postcard from Switzerland? Perhaps we'll catch up with one another on the slopes sometime."
Stefan starts to walk away.
L: "You know I've got to hand it to you. The more I struggled, the more trapped I was. I couldn't make a move, I couldn't speak without betraying someone and finally everyone."
Laura grabs Stefan's coat and spins him to face her.
L: "But if you betray me this time and you make it all for nothing! In other words if I find out that Luke has been told anything other than Nikolas' father is dead! I will have a revenge on you, the likes of which you can't possibly imagine. It will make what you've done to me seem like a kiss on a summer day!"
S: "Save your bedtime stories for your daughter."
L: "You know I'm telling the truth, because you know what you've turned me into. I was a Cassadine too."
Laura walks away.

Kat's room. (Lucky and Nik are there with her).
N: "Is he bothering you? Should I call security and have him thrown out?
L: "Well that's just like a Cassadine isn't it?. Make someone else do the dirty work huh?. Are you too afraid to fight your own battles huh?"
N: "I'd tear you apart before you knew what hit you."
L: "What's stopping you?"
K: "Both of you stop it c'mon."
N: "I'll see you later."
K: "I said that's enough. Didn't either one of you hear what I said at the hearing. This ridiculous feud has got to stop. You are brothers, and whether you like it or not you share the same mother and the same blood runs through your veins."
L: "No, I'm nothing like this self centered phony. With all his money and fancy airs. Thinks he's better than everybody else."
N: "With competition like you what choice do I have?"
K: "I said that's enough! OK fine. You guys are out of here! Get out of here! I don't need this kind of stuff in my room."
They split.

Nikolas returns.
K: "What was that all about?"
N: "I needed to tell him something."
K: "I don't suppose you apologized?"
N: "Apologize? For what? He was the one bad mouthing my family."
K: "That's not the reason he came here."
N: "Oh. Then what was? To tell you that his father is innocent and that my uncle shot you? Give me a break. Luke Spencer is the luckiest man on this planet because you lost your memory."
K: "Nikolas, you don't know that Luke is the one that shot me."
N: "Believe whatever you want ok. But other than Luke, the only other people that were on that island that night were my uncle and Bobbie. And I know they didn't shoot you."
Kat gives Nikolas a stern look.
N: "I'm sorry. I'm sorry I'm getting so irritated it's just when I walked in here and heard Lucky spouting off his mouth it ticked me off."
K: "You've got to find a way to make peace with him Nikolas, before the two of you end up like Stefan and Luke."
A nurse knocks and enters.
RN: "All ready to go Ms. Bell?"
K: "Can I just have a minute please."
N: "No it's ok. I have to get back to work. I just (Sigh) I came by to say goodbye and to wish you luck."
K: "Thank you. I hope you'll come by and visit me sometime."
N: "You can count on it."
K: "Promise me you'll think about what I said."
N: "Only for you."
Nikolas leaves.
K: "So what's the drill?"
RN: "Well first you sign these release papers, then I get them processed. Then I wheel you to the elevators where Carly Roberts is waiting to take you home."
Katherine's mind is elsewhere.

Stefan and Bobbie have a strange conversation. Felicia had just visited Bobbie at Wyndemere and raised questions in Bobbie's mind.
S: "You seem upset Barbara. Did Felicia say something?"
B: "Stefan, why did you marry me?"
S: "You want to know why I married you? For the obvious reasons, you're charming and beautiful."
B: "You say so everyday. And I'll never get tired of hearing it. But those are complements not explanations."
S: "Well I didn't think one was necessary. I married you because you're everything I wanted in a wife. Where is this coming from?"
B: "From Felicia. She was asking about you."
S: "Oh. For Dr. Hardy I assume?"
B: "No. no, for herself. Felicia is one of the fairest, most open people I know and she wanted to make up her own mind. So as I was explaining you to her."
S: "Explaining me?"
B: "Well yea, the way you're always step in and rescue people, without ever taking any credit."
S: "Well Barbara you made me sound like a paragon. No wonder she's suspicious."
B: "Well look what you did for Kevin. He had no career, his sanity was questionable. You gave him a job, you gave him a second chance. Not to mention what you did for Katherine Bell."
S: "Well yes but that was different, she.."
B: "If you say she was injured on my property I will scream."
Stefan laughs.
S: "All right, she was hurt by a situation that went out of control. I felt partly responsible. Naturally I'd want to help in any way I could."
B: "That's what I was telling Felicia. A person hits rock bottom and there you are making things better, for no apparent reason except that you're a born rescuer. And then I started to wonder maybe that's what you did for me?"
S: "For you?"
B: "I was searching for my daughter. I found out she was dead, on the very same day I found my husband in bed with a younger woman. I divorced overnight and before I knew it you had proposed to me, and within two weeks I went from being the poor little wife who was the last to know. To being lady of the manor. Now as far as rescues go that's pretty spectacular."
S: "I don't think you're aware of it but you've just insulted me. I'm proud of my name Barbara. I can trace it back hundreds of years. I would never bestow it lightly, much less out of pity. Nor would I take a woman into my life or Nikolas' because I felt sorry for her. I married you because I wanted you. In fact I've wanted you for years."
B: "Years?"
S: "Yes. It's time you knew the whole truth."
Bobbie's eyes get wide.

Katherine finally goes home.
C: "Wow. What a beautiful place."
K: "Yeah. If you don't decorate it."
C: "I think it's gorgeous. I mean it's just a little out of season. We had this old neighbor back home and she used to leave hers up 'til Easter."
K: "That's how I want to be known. Crazy lady in a wheelchair."
C: "Not for long."
K: "Because the tree's coming down? Or because I'm going to walk again?"
C: "Both."
Doorbell rings. Carly pats Katherine on the shoulder.
C: "Hi."
RN: "Ms. Bell."
K: "Nurse Shaw."
RN: "I brought your bag."
K: "Uh good. Could you maybe put it down the hall there in the guestroom. I'll be staying there for the time being."
RN: "Of course."
C: "And did you want me to get started on the tree?"
K: "No. That's ok. I think I just want to be alone for a minute and take a breath, and realize I'm home."
C: "Sounds like a plan. So I'll help Deloris." Carly stops and hands Kat the phone.
C: "In case you want to call a friend. Let them know so far, so good."
K: "Thanks."
C: "Yeah, just yell if you need me."
K: "Yeah." Katherine picks up the receiver "Don't do it."
Carly is watching.

Wyndemere.
Stefan and Bobbie sit on the couch.
S: "You're right there is something in me that wants to fix things. You touched it the first time I saw you."
B: "Oh that awful birthday party. I was such a wreck crying on my front stoop."
S: "You were standing under fluorescent lights performing a difficult duty for a friend."
B: "I don't know what you mean."
S: "You came to the morgue to identify Lesley Webbers body. Her husband wasn't strong enough. Neither was Amy, so it fell to you. Lesley Webber was your friend, It hurt. But you saw it through. I doubt you remember the morgue attendant? He wore a mask."
B: "That was you?"
S: "I was standing four feet away. I saw you. I saw how brave and compassionate you were. And I never forgot you."

Kat's place.

Carly answers the door. It's Miranda.
M: "Hi. I'm looking for Katherine Bell."
K: "Hi. Come in. This is Carly Roberts, she's my new physical therapist and resident angel. She's helping me to recover from the holidays."
M: "Well better late than never. Hi, I'm Miranda Jamison."
C: "Nice to meet you."
M: "So hey this is where you live?"
K: "Well not recently. How on earth did you find me?"
M: "Oh you forget. I've been to this building before."
K: "Oh that's right. So did you see Jax today?"
M: "He's busy. Which is why I'm here."
K: "Oh I always love being second choice."
M: "No. I'm here to make sure that you're ok. I know it can be exhausting and traumatic coming home from the hospital."
K: "Well the first thing that I thought was that I wouldn't be able to climb those stairs. And that he won't be visiting me anymore." Holding out the crystal tree.
M: "Did you get a chance to see him before you left the hospital?"
K: "And I was strong and cool. Until my heart was so loud I was sure that he heard it."
M: "And then what happened?"
K: "He started to tell me..."
Miranda coughs warning of Carly’s presence in the room, fiddling with the Christmas tree.
K: "You know Carly. The housekeeper can get that later. I don't even know why she left it up. Could you look in the kitchen for some tea and maybe some Pishcante(?) or something for us?"
C: "Oh yeah, sure."
K: "Thanks" as Carly exits.
K: "Thank you I don't know what I was thinking."
M: "Well, it's not like you said his name or anything."
K: "Carly is Tony Jones' girlfriend."
M: "And?"
K: "Tony Jones. Bobbie Cassadines ex."
M: "Oh."

Stefan escapes Bobbie's further probing with Houdini speak. Bobbie thinks they might be together because they knew each other before. Stefan talks about a once in a lifetime connection. (Deja vu? Don't worry about this being weird we haven't even got to the Faberge egg story yet.)
Nikolas enters the room.
S: "Oh hello Nikolas. Where have you been?"
N: "Saying goodbye to my little sister. The Spencers are moving to Switzerland."
B: "Are you sure?"
N: "Well they discussed it in front of me. Of course that probably means they're moving to Sri Lanka."
B: "Why?"
N: "I don't Know." To Stefan "Do you?"
S: "No. Their latest strategy I assume. Did Laura ask to see you."
N: "I went to tell my grandmother you were going to release her medical records. And Laura let me say goodbye to my little sister. I guess I should be grateful. Well whatever, goodnight."
Bobbie goes to comfort Nikolas and Stefan picks up the phone...

Kat and Miranda:
K: "All kinds of things. Lucy brought a stack of catalogues and I'll tell you what I really need is some workout clothes.."
Carly answers the phone.
C: "Hello."
Stefan hangs up.
C: "They hung up."
K: "Must have been a wrong number."

Stefan and Alexis are discussing Lesley's medical records near the elevator at GH.
A: "If they exist."
S: "You too?"
A: "Are you handing them over to Nikolas?"
S: "Don't worry about it."
N: "Nikolas promised them to the Spencers. What are you going to do just say that they disappeared?"
S: "It seemed easier to make the Spencers disappear."
A: "You didn't? How?"
S: "You know I'm beginning to find it tiresome to be questioned at every turn. Do you think for a moment that I don't know what I'm doing?"
A: "Have you ever been to a parade? It's really very American, you should make a point of it. Right behind the mounted police or the mounted whatever, there's always a ridiculous person in a motorized scooter that picks up after the horses. That's me Stefan. Talk about tiresome."
Stefan is not amused and leaves in the elevator.
Later Alexis drops a mysterious letter in the nurses station outbox.
Stefan approaches her.
S: "Everything has fallen into place. If you're still with me."
A: "And the virus if I may ask?"
S: "Safely tucked away in one of the family heirlooms."
(The Faberge egg Nikolas gave to LuLu.)
Later Bobbie questions Stefan about Lesley, he deflects her. Alexis hints at a child while talking to Bobbie about Lucas. (Another story that disappeared)

Kat's Penthouse.
Nikolas: "I thought I'd come by everyday to work on Katherine's Tai Chi, it'll help center her."
Carly: "That's, That's great. Not a problem at all, I hear it's an excellent discipline."
Katherine: "Well it's supposed to send a flow of energy from the head to the toes. And Nikolas is
being very inventive at coming up of moves that I can do sitting down."
Nik: "Well trust me the energy will still reach your toes."
Kat: "Well my toes will just have to take your word for it. For the time being anyway. But not forever. Because I realize now how lucky I am."
N: "I'm so glad to hear that Katherine."
Carly: "That's true a lot of patients with spinal injuries don't get the chance that you've been given."
K: "I know that now. So if it's possible for my legs to get a message. I'm going to make sure they get it."
N: "With an attitude like that Katherine you can't miss."
K: "Well I could but it wouldn't be for a lack of trying."
N: "Or for lack of support."
C: "You keep up that energy and have this guy for a cheering section. And I'll have you moving in no time."
N: "Well I better let you get back to it but tomorrow. A.M."
Katherine does some arm gestures.
N: "Good. Well hey good luck don't let her wear you out."
K: "OK. Let me have it."

Wyndemere.
Bobbie is talking to Alexis.
B: "Every once in a while I still entertain this pipe dream that eventually my husband and my brother will at least be civil to one another."
A: "You aren't holding your breath are you?"
B: "No, but I mean Luke took Laura and the kids and he left the country. Without even saying goodbye, and Stefan doesn't seem to understand how much that hurt me. I guess that's because he hates him so much."

Stefan and Nikolas enter the room. Stefan is wearing that brown velvet (Todd note: or whatever it is suit, yech. Bobbie has on some kind of leopard outfit. Alexis looks good in red. End of fashion statement.)
N: "It's fantastic. She's done a complete 180 since that depression she was in."
S: "Yes. I heard as much."
B: "Katherine?"
N: "Yes Bobbie, she's so much happier and so full of drive now."
B: "Well she's had a lot of support."

Alexis is looking at Stefan.
N: "Well I try. And she's promised to work with me every day on Tai Chi, her physical therapist said that was fine and that would be great. I mean I know it will help her concentration."
B: "I think it's very generous of you to be spending so much time with her."
N: "I was so excited, at her progress that when I saw your brother. That didn't even get me down."
B: "You saw Luke?"
N: "Yea I ran into him in the hall. His friend Sonny lives right across the hall from Katherine."
B: "Then they didn't go to Europe after all?"
N: "I think Laura did, but Luke stayed here. Kinda makes you wonder huh? how good things can be with them?"
B: "Luke is here? Stefan do you know why Luke stayed here?"
S: "Not yet. It's not as if the two of you have been close since our marriage."
B: "Well what's that got to do with it? I'm sorry, I'm wild at him and I'm taking it out on you."
S: "Oh I understand."
N: "Just another Luke Spencer special."
S: "Nikolas!"
B: "Uh. I need a little time alone to deal with this. Would you excuse me." She goes upstairs.
S: "We'll discuss it when you're ready Barbara. (Sigh) So Nikolas, tell us more about Ms. Bell's progress it's heartening to hear."
N: "It's even better to watch. She's so strong and so determined."
Alexis is watching Stefan's reaction.

Stefan and Alexis are at the Q's and Miranda is at Kat's with the ever irritating Nurse Shaw.
Monica: "Well Stefan is here on hospital business, and Alexis is going to help me with my appeal."
S: "And Monica I wanted to tell you in person how badly I felt about having to remove you from your position at the hospital."
M: "Well I can't say I've made peace with that, but I do understand."
S: "I don't think I've conveyed to you how strongly I believe in your innocence. Pierce Dormans name is a blight not only on your reputation but the hospitals, and I look forward to the day when his name is no longer on the staff list, and we can move forward with our plans for General Hospital."

The doorbell rings at Kat's.
Nurse Shaw: "Now who could that be?"
K: "One way to find out."
Miranda: "Hi. Is Katherine up for a visit today?"
Nurse Shaw: "Come in please. You have a visitor, a young woman."
K: "Yes, I can see that. I may not walk but my eyesight’s fine."
NS: "Would you ladies like some tea? It calms me down."
K: "That'd be great. Thanks."
The nurse goes to the kitchen.
K: "That woman hasn't stopped talking since she got here."
Miranda laughs.

More Yakety Yak at the Q's about Dorman. Then.
S: "Now I think we need to address the hospitals image. Which needless to say was tarnished by Dorman's lawsuit."
Alan: "Well GH has a public relations department."
Edward: "Oh ho, some department. Two secretaries who answer calls from the press when they aren't filling out insurance forms. You know what we really need is a spin artist. I know just the person."
S: "Who would that be?"
Edward: "Katherine Bell of course."
S: "I thought Katherine Bell owned some sort of cosmetics line?"
Edward: She does. She owns a perfume company. With basically one product. Deception."
Ned: "That's a fragrance, not a moral judgment."
Edward: "Oh ho ho. You say what you will about Katherine Bell and Ned has absolutely no compunction about doing just that."
N: "I've earned the privilege grandfather. The hard way."
E: "Oh no. She has some very clever things to say about you too my lad. You see she has a lot of experience in public relations and she's done some freelancing. And she is very good. Not only is sharp, bright and inventive, but she has the ability to discern the right quality, the best quality out of anything. A company, a situation or a person. Latch onto it and before you know it she has you and everyone around you thinking just exactly like she does about it."
S: "Well that's fascinating. I had no idea."
A: "But in her present condition."
E: "Oh but now is when she needs to feel needed. To know that she hasn't been passed by and that her talents are still in demand."
Alan: "Well as chief of staff. I'll take it under consideration."
E: "Oh ho ho. Under consideration is right. It will be put under a lot of other things to be considered and it will never be mentioned again. Well Alan I am going over or under your head whichever way you choose to look at it. So what do you think?" To Stefan.
S: "Well naturally I'll have to defer to Alan, but all things being equal. I think it's an idea to consider if she's really that good."
E: "She is. Don't you think someone should at least call her about it? And if someone won't I will."
Alan: "It's not your job."
E: "Well it hasn't stopped me before."
Monica closes things up.
S: "Goodnight Alan, Edward, Ned."
E: "You'll be glad you chose Katherine Bell."
Alexis to Stefan "Would you like to join me for dinner when I'm finished."
S: "No, no I'm busy tonight. Perhaps another time. Goodnight."
A: "Uh I'll be right back." She follows Stefan into the hall.
A: "Where are you going?"
S: "Home of course."
A: "I hope so."
S: "You're out of line Alexis."
A: "I know. So are you. You don't seem to care much about that big picture you went to such great lengths to sell me on. And if you don't care, why should I?"
S: "Well that's entirely up to you, since you're only here because of me. I might remind you of your offer to leave Port Charles. Why stay on where you feel so unfulfilled?"
Stefan leaves.
A: "You know I'm right cousin."

Kat's penthouse. Miranda has left and Kat has sent Nurse Shaw for some butterscotch pudding. Kat sees herself in a mirror and out of frustration tries to stand. She falls.
Stefan in his limo calls Kat. She struggles for the phone line and pulls it off the table. She cries out for help, Stefan hears her and orders his driver to her penthouse. He busts in the door.
S: "Katherine.."
K: "What are you doing here.."
S: "Are you all right, are you hurt, are you in pain?
K: "No, I don't think so."
S: "What? No? What happened. Tell me what happened?"
K: "I was reaching for the phone. I fell and I was so scared."
S: "Shh, I'm afraid too. Afraid to move you."
K: "How did you know I needed you?"
S: "I, I, it was me on the phone. I couldn't get here fast enough."
Stefan cradles her head, as Sonny, Mike and Miranda come from across the hall after hearing the ruckus.
Sonny: "Katherine? You ok?"
S: "Can someone help me this woman has just been released from the hospital and she's fallen."
Stefan and Mike help her up and Stefan puts her in her chair.
Mike: "What happened?"
K: "The phone rang I just reached for it, and bam new party trick."
Stefan: "Well I'll pay for the door of course."
K: "That's really not necessary."
Stefan: "Oh yes it is. I feel responsible. It was me on the phone, when you fell.
Edward Quartermaine suggested I call you on a hospital matter, and it was a mistake. We should have givien you a few days to get your bearings at least."
Sonny: "Just couldn't control yourself huh?"
Stefan glares at Sonny.
K: "Really no one is to blame. I'd always rather talk about business than my own personal problems. Excuse my manners, do I need to introduce my neighbor? Sonny Corinthos."
Sonny: "No, not at all."
Stefan: "We've met."
K: "And his dad Mike Corbin."
(Who gives an obligatory nod.)
K: "My friend Miranda Jamison."
(Who looks very uncomfortable.)
S: "Oh, I've seen you before. At the hospital I believe?"
K: "Yes. She was in and out of my room quite a lot."
Sonny: "Well if you're not going to do an encore. Then we'll get out of your way."
K: "You're not in my way. In fact I read about your escape from the cave. You're one lucky man."
Sonny: "Pretty darn lucky."
Sonny and Mike leave.
Stefan: "You should have someone to look out for you."
K: "I do, I hate it."
S: "Well, they're obviously incompetent. You shouldn't be left alone. Please let me hire a staff for you."
K: "No more people please. You really should go."
S: "I don't feel comfortable leaving you alone."
K: "Miranda's in the kitchen. She can stay with me."
S: "How long can she stay?"
K: "As long as I ask her, she's a good friend."
Miranda returns from the kitchen.
K: "Ah. That should soothe my shattered nerves. Too bad there's not a tea for shattered spines. We really should let Mr. Cassadine get back to his family. Can you stay with me awhile?"
S: "At least until the nurse returns."
Miranda nods silently.
S: "How could she leave like that?"
K: "It's a long story."
Nurse Shaw returns.
Nurse Shaw: "Well what happened to the door?"
S: "What happened to your sense of duty? You left your patient unattended!"
NS: "Don't give me that tone of voice. I'm a licensed professional."
S: "Oh, not anymore. I want your name."
NS: "Who do you think you are?"
S: "I am the person who picked up your patient from the floor in your absence."
NS: "Ms. Bell, you didn't try to walk? I told you to stay put 'til I got back."
K: "No I didn't."
S: "You are the one who should have stayed put."
NS: "She sent me on an errand."
K: "That's true. I had an incredible craving for butterscotch pudding."
NS: "In my experience cravings are always tied to vitamin deficiency. In this case probably Calcium and Protein due to the stress of bone regeneration."
K: "I'm sure Mr. Cassadine understands all that."
NS: "Mr. Cassadine?"
S: "Stefan Cassadine, and I didn't get your name."
K: "Why don't you just put that pudding in the refrigerator."
NS: "Certainly." She scurries away.
S: "That's a nurse?"
K: "My life is hell."
S: "Surely you won't leave until I can send a replacement?" To Miranda who remains silent.
K: "No replacement. No more trouble, I just want to eat my pudding and relax. Thank you for being here when I needed help."
S: "Well I'm just at the other end of the phone."
K: "Right."
S: " I will send someone along to repair the door. Goodnight."

Stefan leaves; Miranda and Kat talk
K: "Well?"
M: "Well, big excitement."
K: "That's my friend. A Cassadine and married."
M: "He didn't look too married when we walked in. He looked crazy about you. Must be nice to be on the receiving end of so much passion."
K: "But you disapprove."
M: "I didn't say that."
K: "You didn't say one word to him. You didn't speak to him at all. So Sherlock what did you see?"
M: "Oh well he was all over you when we walked in."
K: "I think he was just worried about me."
M: "No just worried, you call the super to unlock the door. Head over heels you kick it down yourself."
K: "I keep telling myself to forget about him."
M: "And?"
K: "And I can't. I keep telling myself he's married. And he's dangerous, at least that's what all sort of people keep telling me. But I just can't make myself stop thinking about him."
M: "Yeah I know the feeling."

Stefan enters the Port Charles hotel. Where Alexis and Ned are dining.
N: "What was it like growing up with your cousin Stefan?"
A: "Once on a summer vacation he threw me over the side of the yacht."
N: "Now why would he do that?"
A: "Because I was afraid there were sharks in the water."
N: "Were there?"
A: "Yes, but he said I wasn't allowed to be afraid."
S: "Good evening. Alexis, Ned."
N: "Stefan."
A: "Hello Stefan, we were just chugging back vodka on the rocks."
N: "Care to join us?"
S: "Perhaps I'd better."
A: "Don't worry it's just seltzer. And I didn't let it slip about any of the ELQ takeover plans. Ooops."
S: "Ned I wonder if you would mind if I had a word alone with my cousin."
A: "Uh oh. Am I in trouble?"
S: "No, no. Not at all."
N: "Uh, Alexis perhaps we can do this again, and next time we'll have something a little more exciting than seltzer."
A: "I'll look forward to it."
Ned leaves. Stefan sits down.
A: "What happened?"
S: "(Sigh) Sonny Corinthos discovered me at Katherine Bells apartment. She'd fallen, I had my arms around her. It might have been misconstrued."
A: "May I remind you that Sonny Corinthos is Luke Spencers best friend."
S: "Yes I know."
A: "And you have just given him, if you'll excuse the pun an armload of ammunition to use against you."
S: "Luke will obviously run to his sister, but I can handle Barbara. Now if you will listen there is something else."
A: "I'm listening."
S: "There was another witness tonight. A woman named Miranda Jamison. Find out who she is."

Wyndemere, next morning.
S: "Alexis, what are you doing here so early?"
A: "I wanted to find out what Bobbie said about your visit to Katherine Bell."
S: "I haven't told her yet."
A: "Because?"
S: "She was called away last night for an emergency at the hospital. She hasn't been home."
A: "Why didn't you go over to the hospital?"
S: "Why? Because it would be giving more weight to the situation than it deserves."
A: "Sonny Corinthos and Miranda Jamison saw you holding Katherine in your arms last night."
S: "Yes. Did you happen to find out who this Miranda Jamison person is by the way?"
A: "No, not yet. There is a connection here. Sonny Corinthos is Luke Spencers best friend. I think it would be in your best interest if Bobbie heard this from you rather than hearing it from her own brother."

Kat's penthouse: Kat is fondling the Crystal Tree and has a flashback to Stefan holding her the night before. The doorbell rings. As nurse Shaw goes to answer it.
K: "Uh, just a second." as she powders her nose.
K: "OK."
Nurse Shaw opens the door.
K: "Bobbie?"
