Steve's been shot in Stockholm, but can't go to the hospital. Hope had to call Kayla  in Salem for help in treating Steve's wound.

Steve is scared when someone starts
to enter his hotel room...

Until he sees Kayla.

Kayla says he's lucky, the bullet went straight through

Steve wants to know what made her come all the way from Salem to Stockholm

Kayla says she is there to help
get Roman out of jail...but Steve knows
better

Kayla gives Steve a sedative

Steve thanks Kayla for coming

Hope tells Kayla that Steve called out for Kayla the night he was shot.

Steve and Kayla break into a tatoo parlor to try to find some clues about the three knives tatoos...and the whereabouts of the bonds.

They are almost found by the police and have to hide out in a box for the night.

Steve and Kayla escape the water
tank, where they almost drowned...

At Helga's, Steve helps Kayla get out of her wet clothes.

They warm up by the fire

Steve has to go meet up with Roman and Hope for a while.

Kayla primps while she waits for Steve to return.

Steve arrives and does a double take

To cheer Kayla up, Steve cooks her an omelette at Helga's

Kayla makes a toast..."To Us"

Things start to get too close for comfort for Steve...

He tells Kayla to look in the mirror-they are too different

"I want you to know that whether you
like it or not I can see right through you..."

"You can't see anything...because you don't know me!"

" I know it takes courage, you think I haven't been hurt before? You think none of this scares me? All I'm saying is that to be someone's friend is a gamble...and ya, you might get hurt. It's a good possibility. But I'm willing to take that risk if you...forget it, if this is what you want , who am I to..."

"This isn't what I want. Look at me, do you think I want this?"

Bo shows up...happy to see Kayla telling
Steve off

"Bo you're no different than he is. You're
as stubborn and bitter as Steve. No wonder
you two were such good friends. You
deserve each other."

"You both think you know everything about me, that you know what's best for me. Well I have news for you, neither one of you has a clue about what's best for me, or what I need."

"I am not fragile. And I don't appreciate
either one of you appointing yourselves guardian of my life"

Steve teases Kayla...

gets ready to disrobe...

Kayla's not phased

The phone rings
"Saved by the bell"

Steve talks to Kayla about going out later, as he shaves...Then he realizes
she isn't there

Steve had panicked, because Orpheus
broke out of prison...

Kayla was just shopping in the lobby

Steve doesn't know what he
would have done if something
had happened to her.

Kayla tells Steve he looks great.

Steve wants to see Kayla in her new dress.

He helps her zip up her dress.

Later that evening, Kayla tells Steve he doesn't have to be alone.

The next morning, Kayla is frightened when
she hears someone trying to force their way into the hotel room. Steve likes having Kayla wake him up...

He prepares for unwelcome guests...

When it's room service, Kayla starts to pull up the covers...

......and gets an eyeful

Steve gets a kick out of embarrassing Kayla

"Are you afraid of me baby?"

"Sometimes"

Kayla and Steve play a game
of 20 questions. Steve wants to know what Kayla sees in him...

"Boy, you...you really dive right in,
don't you...I mean at slumber
parties we usually wait 'til midnight..."

Steve starts to get up, but Kayla stops him.

"I see a man I would trust with my life...I don't care what you say, Steve, or how flip you want to be about it. I see someone who has a very, very good soul..."

"I also see someone who has been burned so many times in his life he's afraid to get close to the fire."
