Steve Hides Kayla and Nurses Her Back To Health (Page 2)

Background: Steve kidnapped Kayla from the Deveraux mansion after
he realized her recent illness was due to someone trying to poison her. He
hid Kayla at ISA agent Gabrielle's house, and tried to nurse her back to health....
but Kayla woke up and didn't believe that Steve was telling the truth about
someone trying to poison her. Kayla ran away to Salem, and then (before anyone saw
her), realized Steve could be telling the truth about the poisoning. . She was still quite ill,
and tried to call her brother, policeman Roman Brady for help. As she called him,
she passed out on the pier. Steve and Marcus frantically looked for Kayla for days
before they finally found her at quirky Professor Schenkel's house.

Steve hears Jonah  (a young boy) and Carrie talking about an alien man and the woman he has at his house now. Steve wants to know about this woman. Jonah won't give Steve any information at first, but he and Marcus eventually get Jonah to talk.

Jonah has been watching and following a strange man that he believes to be an alien, and that man recently took a woman into his home...Marcus and Steve are suspicious and decide to go check the guy out.

At the "alien's" house/ aka Professor Schenkel  (one of Marcus's clients/patients) , Kayla sleeps soundly

He promises to take care of the "sweet lady". But he hides her when he hears a loud "knock"/banging at the door.

It is Steve at the door, with Marcus. Steve demands to see the woman that Professor Schenkel has hidden in his house.

Steve threatens the man, who claims not to know what Steve is talking about.

Marcus has to hold Steve back from beating the guy down

Steve and Marcus back off when the man pulls out a rifle and yells at them to leave.

Outside the Professor's house
Marcus: "Man you've really got it bad for this girl don't you?"
Steve: "You don't know...you don't know...how hard she had to work to get me to tell her... I love her...I don't deserve her."
Marcus: "Maybe she thinks you do, maybe she thinks you do!"

Steve: "I had to let her go, but I never stopped loving her. We're connected, man. No matter where we are, if one of us is in trouble, the other one knows about it. So right now you see, no matter how sick she is, somewhere in the back of her mind she's thinking of me..."

"...She knows that I'm there for her, she's counting on me. But I'm at a dead end. I don't know where to go, I don't know where to look..."

"Marcus, man, if she dies, I die! ...."

Marcus tries to comfort Steve. Professor Schenkel has been listening
to their entire conversation. He lets Marcus in to see Kayla first.


Steve waits impatiently outside.

"Kayla! Sweetness!"

Kayla calls Steve's name

She smiles ,happy to see him.
Steve thanks Professor Schenkel, who tells him to take care of Kayla. Steve promises that he will.

Professor Schenkel says goodbye to Kayla


Marcus warns Steve that Kayla has a viral infection now; she is no longer sick from the poisoning. Her resistance was down and she was out in the snow, cold. They have to be careful because the infection can turn into pneumonia. If that happens, Kayla has to be put in the hospital.

"I can't lose you Kayla"


Kayla wonders if she is dreaming, or if Steve is really with her.

"I love you Kayla"

Aftermath: Kayla remembered Steve saying that he loved her.
She finally believed him about the poisoning, and didn't want to go back
to Salem. She just wanted to be with Steve. When Steve wouldn't take
off to California with her, Kayla threatened to leave by herself,
unless Steve explained why he'd pushed her away in the first place.
Steve revealed that Jack is his brother, Billy....
