Steve turns down Kayla's invitation to
be her date for the Hospital New Year's Party.

She's obviously upset but pretends it wasn't a big deal and excuses herself.

Bo and Hope stop by to pick up Hope's dress. Bo wants to know what Kayla's plans are for the holiday. She just plans to go to bed with a book.

Bo invites Kayla to come to  the party with him and Hope. But Kayla's not in a party mood.

There is a knock at the door. Kayla opens it and is thrilled to see Steve....

Once Bo and Hope leave, Steve pulls out the bouquet of roses he bought for Kayla

As Kayla gets ready, Steve  nervously fixes his tie

When he hears Kayla coming down the stairs, he makes a run for the sofa and tries to look cool and calm.

Kayla wants to wear the necklace Steve gave her for Christmas.

Steve helps her put it on.

"Well, how do I look?"

"Like the most beautiful woman I've ever seen in my life."

(Kayla speaking): "Do you remember how you once made me look in the mirror? Come here...."

"You told me to look in the mirror and face reality.Now I'm telling you to do that. This is reality Steve."

Steve and Kayla walk in the park, on their way to the party.

Steve thinks this night is like a movie, like some kind of a fantasy. When Kayla says it's real, Steve says it is his fantasy.

Steve and Kayla decide they don't want to go to the party...

They go back to Kayla's place and kiss and cuddle by the fire.

Kayla: "You always knew it would be like this...why did you keep me waiting so long?"

Steve: "Baby I was...scared of you."

Steve and Kayla are interrupted by a messenger delivering a package.

Kayla puts the package down. Steve and Kayla kiss at midnight.

Steve unzips Kayla's dress...

Things are leading further...until a rock comes crashing through the window and interrupts them.

As Steve goes outside to investigate, Kayla opens the package she received.

It's a file detailing Steve's work for Victor. Steve had spied on Kayla under Victor's payroll.

When Steve comes back in, Kayla starts questioning him about the first times they met.

Steve senses that Kayla is angry about something and wants to know what it is.

Steve reacts after Kayla shows him the file she received...

Kayla wants to hear the truth from Steve. Steve reminds Kayla that she knew that he worked for Victor.

Steve reminds Kayla that everyone
warned her to stay away from Steve, including Steve himself.

Kayla: "Well maybe I should have listened to them!"
Steve: "Ya maybe you should have!"
Kayla: "But I didn't!!! Because I listened to my heart!"
Steve reminds Kayla that he tried to protect her, he warned her to stay away from him.

Kayla: "I know all about that side of you."
Steve: "Then what are we talking about here Kayla?"
Kayla: "I thought I was different...I thought you wouldn't do those things to me."

Steve: "...You get to see once and for all what kind of lowlife freak you're dealing with here..."
Kayla: "Stop It, just stop it!  I thought we were finished with this game, enough with this Steve the bad boy, Steve who's never going to change...leave him or take him"
Steve: "Why don't you just admit ou made a bad choice Kayla and you can't handle somebody like me."

Kayla: "I can handle anything as long as I know I'm dealing with the truth. Why couldn't you just come to me and talk to me, instead of slipping back into your old ways, putting up these barriers. Why couldn't you just say you're sorry?"

Steve: "I'm not going to apologize for the way I am! Are you going to say you're sorry for being so damn perfect?"

Kayla starts asking questions. She realizes he was her stalker in Cleveland and tells him off. Steve reveals he was working for Emma at the time.

Kayla is horrified that Steve was involved in Andrew's kidnapping.

He assures her that  he had no idea what Emma was up to, he never would have purposely helped Emma kidnap Andrew.

Kayla: "You know something, I don't know what was real, and what was just in a day's work."

Steve: "It was all real Kayla...the good parts"

Kayla tells Steve to leave.

They both remember their times together...
