S: I've never looked back before,
my whole life. Leaving was easy

K: I thought you liked our new place
(concerned)

S: It's fine....but it's not this place. You
know what. This is the place I was
standing when you gave me that pool cue.
Remember right before Christmas? It was
the first thing you ever gave me. I
remember it like it was yesterday....

K: I remember (smiles)

S: The Fireplace. How many times
have we made love in front of that fire?

K: And up on the roof

S: Ya up on the the roof. (smiles)

S: I don't know...I mean, you know,
I'd come home in a bad mood, just
walk through the door and this place
would cheer me up, I'd feel happy.

K: It's not this place, it's us. And
wherever we go, we take those
feelings with us

K: ...You don't leave your
memories behind. You take them with you, through your whole life. And that's what we created here, memories. Remember that time,
that New Year's Eve...when we stayed home
and didn't go to that party...so quiet

S: Ya, I do remember

(flashback to New Years shown)

S: Now that was a long time ago

K: No, not really.

K: It's amazing how much is wrapped
up in this place. You don't even think
about it til it's time to move on.

S: Ya. Well It wasn't all fun and games,
though , was it?

K: I only want to think about the good times

S: Kayla...Sometimes the bad memories
make the nice ones sweeter

K: I don't want to hear about anything bad

S: Hey, remember when you were deaf and
we didn't know if you'd ever hear again
...now wait a minute, I wasn't going to give up on you, I was going to marry you no matter what.
And you , were SO stubborn.

K: Me?

S: Ya, you.

(flashback shown-Kayla turning down
Steve's proposal because she was deaf)

S: What, you regret it?

K: Only that it took so long to say yes.
You know I was thinking about the night
that we danced on the roof, I couldn't hear anything...but there was music.

S: What music?

K: We danced, don't you remember? And you helped me hear the music
(flashbacks shown--Steve and Kayla dancing
on the roof when she was deaf, and the
Lady In Red fantasy)

(Steve and Kayla dance)

S: Ah, I am starting to get that feeling again

K: See, it's not the place. It's us. Us being together.

S: You're right.

Later that episode

Steve comes back to the loft to meet Kayla
(who had told him she had one last thing she
wanted to do at the loft before they left). Kayla
isn't in the living room, so he calls out for her.
Then he hears "The Woman In Me" playing from the rooftop, smiles and goes upstairs to the roof to meet Kayla.
