MARY BETH EVANS BIOGRAPHY

Mary Beth Evans was voted Best Actress by her fourth-grade classmates in Orange County, California. From there the fair-haired, self-described "beach girl" set her sights on a performing career. At 14 she got a job in a fast-food restaurant and had her older sister drive her to acting classes.

Following graduation from Huntington Beach High School, Mary Beth spent five months in Europe before joining the prestigious South Coast Repertory Conservatory. She performed in several stage productions. Theatrically, Mary Beth has also appeared at the Beverly Hills Playhouse in All This and Moonlight.  

In 1993 she joined General Hospital as Katherine Bell, a role she played until Fall of 99'. Beginning 2001 she has played the recurring role of Sierra on As The World Turns. Mary Beth is still remembered best for her portrayal of Kayla Brady Johnson on Days of Our Lives, a role she played from 1986-92.

Among her other television credits : the part of Dakota Lane on Rituals, and guest-starring roles on Knight Rider (twice), Remington Steele, Murder, She Wrote, Crime & Punishment, Father Murphy, and Toy Soldiers. As a working mother, Mary Beth also finds time to enjoy interior decorating,  gardening, cooking and crafts. Married in 1985 to Dr. Michael Schwartz, she resides in Southern California with her husband and their three young children, Danny, Katie and Matthew.
