Kayla just woke up after surgery that may or may not restore her hearing. Steve doesn't want to pressure Kayla, he just likes to see her wear the engagement ring...

He slips the ring on her finger...

and Kayla tells him to ask again (to marry him).

Steve is overjoyed...and asks her again.

She says yes.

Steve and Kayla announce their engagement to Jo.

Jo is ecstatic, and starts trying to organize everything right away. What's the date she asks...

Steve laughs and tells her to slow down...then talks to Kayla about a date for the wedding. They agree to get married in a week.

"A WEEK?! Son, we gotta have time to prepare something really nice..."

Steve and Kayla tell Jo they just want something really simple, with just family and friends. (But Steve has something up his sleeve).

Steve interprets in sign language, as Jo tells Kayla how happy she is that Kayla is going to marry Steve. Jo talks fast and Steve struggles to catch up.

Outside Kayla's room, Steve has a twinkle in his eye...

Jo wants to know what he's up to...

Steve's working on a surprise to make the wedding extra special for Kayla

Steve's back in Kayla's hospital room. Kayla tells him he has made all her dreams come true. Steve replies, "You ain't seen nothin yet" (but Kayla doesn't hear that).

Steve and Kayla go to visit her parents, and announce their engagement

Shawn and Caroline are very happy for Steve and Kayla...

But Caroline doesn't like the fact that the wedding is a week away. She wanted a Church wedding for Kayla. They all decide to have the wedding at the fish market, where Kayla grew up.

As Kayla and Caroline go up to the attic to look for Caroline's wedding veil, Steve and Shawn have a talk.

Steve wants to know if Shawn approves...

Shawn says of course he approves of the one man who makes his daughter happy. He welcomes Steve into the family...but laments the fact that Kayla won't have a big fancy wedding like her other siblings did.

Steve tells him not to worry...he has a big surprise planned for Shawn's little girl.

When Steve and Shawn leave, Kayla comes out, joyously carrying her mother's wedding veil, which she will use on her wedding day.

Kayla looks at her siblings' wedding photos...

Then tries on the veil.

Kayla invites Peggy, and the deaf children she teaches, to her wedding

Marcus and Vanessa have come over to take Steve and Kayla out--they want to surprise them. (Steve tells Kayla in sign language)

As the ladies get ready, Marcus tells Steve that Kayla is the perfect woman. He wonders if women know that men dream about the future and getting married too. Steve says Kayla knows.

The friends embrace.

Steve tells Marcus he considers him a brother.

Steve figures out that Kayla's surprise and his surprise are separate--they aren't going to the same place.

At first Kayla feels insecure about going without Steve...but changes her mind when she sees how excited Vanessa and Marcus are about their surprise.

Surprise!

Marcus and the Brady men throw Steve a bachelor party at the Cheatin Heart

Shawn and Roman give a toast welcoming Steve into the family.

Vanessa takes Kayla to Blondie's

Jennifer, Melissa, Maggie, Alice, Carrie, Kim and Eve hold up a Congratulations sign. They throw her a surprise bridal shower.

Kayla gives a speech saying she was afraid to go anywhere that night, because she wasn't sure if she'd be able to communicate. But with friends like all of them, she knows she will always be understood...

Kayla hugs her sister Kim.

Kayla looks back at her family and friends, who have gathered in front of her to say:

Steve asks Max to be his ring bearer

Kayla holds up one of her shower gifts as Calliope calls out, "You won't have that on long!"

Steve and the guys crash the party

(Justin, Emilio, Frankie, Roman, Shane, Abe,  and Marcus are behind Steve)

When they get home, Kayla has intense pain in her ear.

Dr. Mike Horton comes over to check on Kayla. He says she looks fine and starts to ask questions about the pain...

When he asks when the pain started, Kayla answers...before Steve has a chance to interpret Mike's question in sign language

Steve realizes Kayla heard Mike and asks her if she can hear him...

Kayla and Steve realize she can hear.

Kayla is frustrated that she still can't speak--there is no medical
reason for it.

She brightens when Steve reminds her what Dr. Mike said. She's been through a lot and already made one major step- she can hear!

Kayla wants to dance with Steve now that she can hear the music. "The Lady In Red" plays.
